Thread: What is the secret trick?

Im stuck in a inquisitor mission in tier 3.
The thing is to deliver some fake lists to draw attention from the rebels so they get after me, and then find and disable a reb transport etc.
Ive done this over and over but I dont manage to survive.

Here is how it goes.
I start the mission, get the list from a shuttle. And after a while 5 reb fighters appear. While fighting them, drawing minor damage another 5 appear...and after them another 5 and so on. Im killing all that I can making like 3-8 active at a time, all of them on my tail so I cant continue the mission since they blow me to pieces if I try to continue to fly and not go i circles killing them.
Ive put as much power as possible for the engines, but I cant outrun them. And after an hour or so of killing countless of rebs they finally get me.

So what is the deal?
I cant kill en all..since there is new ones spawning all the time.
I cant outrun them cuz they are to many and to fast.
Do I HAVE to bring friends to do it?
Do I HAVE to buy a joystick?

Any food tricks or ideas from people who managed this?

Sometimes I manage to get as far as the reb-transport (who fires real mean blasts through my shields) but since I am pretty damaged when getting there I cant survive it.

Happy to hear ideas since I cant get better parts or ships until I manages this quest.

Yes you can bring friends to make it easier for you and act as a distraction, no you dont have to.

The spawn is endless so ya cant kill em all and they agro on you so unless you are running Engine Overload 3 on a fast engine you wont be able to outrun them. SO, either find a better engine that is L6 or so, and use EO3 on it along with a great booster, or bring some friends.

WHen you do get to the waypoint and dock or whatever it is you are supposed to do ( I dont remember precisely) the endless spawn stops so you need to dock *immediately* and hope your shields are up to par along with Capacitor to Shield Shunt, then finish off the ones that are left.

Thank you for a quick and nice reply.
I dont have EO3 yet. But I just installed EO2 and a pretty good booster. So maybe it will help a bit.
Ill try to manage it alone (how could I call myself a master pilot otherwise?). But I guess I have to get some help if Im not good enough.

Is there a way to put a hyperjump on the toolbar? So one can escape a tight situation, repair a bit in space and then fly back to the mission?

Shop around on your server or just plain ask around, look for a pre programmed droid chip with EO3 on it. YOu will get that later on as you advance, but if it is preprogrammed you can still use it. Do the same with Cap to Shield Shut. That program is so necessary its sick. The EO3 is much better than EO2 and might make all the difference in the world.

As for the hyperjump on the toolbar, yes there is but Ill be damned if I can remember it. I got mine from the pilot forum in one of the FAQ's there. However, I dont think it would really help you out in this particular case since the spawn will simply spawn near you no matter where you are in the system, so hypering to repair might not help. Also, if you do get repaired, it can sometimes reset your droid commands.

Hope you pull it off

EO3 makes a world of difference. asking for help is not a dishonor. and there are plenty of pilots willing to help im sure. in the pilot forums, there is a list of "helper" pilots for each server. i would recommend finding your server on that list and then choosing one of the imperial pilots and asking nicely for help.

if you want to put hyperspace in your toolbar, you'll have to make a macro. i cant remember the exact formula for it, but its something like

/hyperspace dathomir_2 or something similar. if i got that right, it would send you to the 2'nd hyperpoint in dathomir, but ill check my macro's in-game to be sure. when you create that macro, you can then select the icon, and put it in your toolbar.

Glzmo was a great visionary. Perhaps SOE should have listened to him instead of rebuilding everything all the time.

You can alias and macro the command to start a hyperspace jump. The command is:
/hyperspace space_planetname_#;

The planet names are pretty obvious, though yavin is "yavin4." Just make sure you spell them correctly. The # is a number, typically from 0 to 4, where 0 is the first hyperspace listed for that planet on the hyperspace map, 1 is the second hyperspace point listed, etc.

Alias something with:
/alias ABC command

Then use the alias with:
/ABC

In this case, the command is everything from / to ;. The semicolon is not used for most aliases, but is absolutely required here.

If you want the command in your toolbar, put the command in a macro and drag the macro icon into the toolbar. Again, make sure you go from slash to semicolon.

Thank you, all of you.
Great replies.
I guess this will make my time in space much more enjoyable.

On a related issue...
Is it possible for a non-ROTW-owner to fly the Royal Interceptor?
I saw one for sale..but I dont want to put all those money on it if I have to own the ROTW (that I dont).

Hypering allows you to leave some behind, unless they've made it so they all jump you again. It might be worth it to disable/destroy a number, then damage a few with careful engine hits allowing an easy outrun.
