Hello,

I took a long break from SWG, decided to see if anything was different with the JTL release.

There is a free 10 day trial on fileplanet, but you have to set up a fileplanet account in order to get the 10 day trial.

I tried logging in with my normal fileplanet account, with no luck. I created a NEW fileplanet account, no luck.

Is something broken over there?

You need to be subscriber, that means you pay monthly for gamespy and fileplanet.

Ugh

So I would have to pay 10 bucks to be a subscriber, and then if I like it, another 30 for the expansion?

No, no...

Fileplanet has two services: one free one for downloads of many files (games, mods, etc) from their public server. And another premium service (the fee based one) where you get to download the same contentoff of their private servers, resulting in faster downloads with almost no wait time.

Additionally, If you do subscribe to the pay premium service (credit card required, and in no way affliated to SOE), you sometimes get access to stuff like betas and trials, like the 10 day JTL trial. Previously, i believe the pay service fileplanet also offered a free Splinter cell, Sims online beta, WoW beta, and even SWG 10 day trial.

If you wany to pay for the fileplanet (instead of using it free, but waiting longer), you can download the JTL trial. IF you don't want to do that, you can either wait till the 10-day offer becomes public (like the SWG trial did. you could later download it anywhere and even game magazines offered the disk), or pay the $29 for the expansion.

Hope this helps

Nope... in order to use the "Free" 10 day trial of JTL you HAVE to pay and become a FilePlanet member.

Members with just a free account at FilePlanet can NOT get the "Free" JTL 10 day trial. What a Scam.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Are you sure you have to be a paying subscriber to FilePlanet? I got the free subscription to them and downloaded the 10 day trial. Received the acct. key in my hotmail acct but when trying to enter it I get Invalid Key.

Wrong again.. I myself have a paying account with fileplanet and have had for about 4 years now. However, I signed my friend up for a free account at his house yesterday and he was able to download the 10 day trial of JtL just fine and is playing it now.

You don't have to pay. I'm a paying member of File Planet. Trust me if you play a lot of different games, requiring multiple patches, and enjoy any type of Mod, file planet is a good deal. Thats not the point though. I received my key and was told it was invalid as well. Then I switched accounts (free account) received a file planet key and once again was told it was invalid.

This is not File Planet's fault though. The keys are given to File Planet by SOE. So file planet can only give what it receives. Before this I have never, NEVER, had a problem with anything from File Planet.
