Been stuck on this mission for over a week. Ive read countless posts of people saying that they soloed it, but I find it hard to believe that they did since at the last part of the mission you have to destroy 2 gunboats, both of which can destroy you in less than 6 shots. I myself have the best parts for my ship. Ive tried this mission several times with no avail.
Armor Front/Back 1800
Shields Front/back 1800
3 Weapons 2625.3 a piece
Mark II Proton MIssles 3658 max dam
Im asking this if you are on the Bloodfin server and you are a Tier 4 or Master Pilot and if you can be on tomorrow 1/11/05around 6pm EST I would love to get a group together so that me and my partner can get this mission knocked out so that we can start the corvette run. Havent had any luck on getting a group since for some reason everyone ignores my PM's or tell me to shut up and leave them alone. If your interested in helping just send an email or tell to Nawchir.
Thanks

Keep in mind that NPCs target your chassis, not subcomponents - thus, if you're low on chassis hp, once your shields are down, you're dead.
If you're flying around a ship that has been destroyed enough that your chassis is WELL below or near 500/500, you need to get a new frame, because the chassis hp just isn't a worthless value - it should be treated like an armor plate.

I think you do not have to destroy those gunboats (if it is that mission I got in mind).
They pop up at the end of the mission and I remember I just jumped to lightspeed and the mission was done
(taking on 2 gunboats is a heavy task solo and needless to say I didn't wanna risk my almost-completed mission...)
Oh, as a little hint: change those mk.2 protons for mk.3 concussions.
They're way better to rip shields apart followed by a few well-aimed shots ... et voila.

Concussion Missles=vs Shields
Seismic Missles=vs Armor
Proton=vs Subsystems (partially shields/armor)
So in effect the only Missle worthwhile is proton MKIV because they can take out Subsystems directly.
Allthough nothing is better then SpaceBombs

It´s not that difficult. What you need to do is use Droid Commands if you are not doing so allready. That will increase your damage/speed/Capacitor Energy and Reactor output if you use Wep/Cap/Engine and reactor overcharge (3 of all shoul dbe sufficient).
For Gunboats allways go for the Engines first. or destroy the weapons 4/5 and 6 to disable it´s ability to fire backward, wich enables you to stay behind it, taking it appart piece-by-piece without getting fired upon.
You can also try disabling the rector first. then the guns will rin dry soon and the gunboat is dead in space (just as if you´ll diable the engines, with the difference that disabled engines wont make the guns run dry).
Hope that helps ya. I´d be flying with ya, but im on chimaera...

The part about them only targeting chassis only. I believe that isnt completely true. On the firstsix triesof this mission they disabled in this order after my shields were down about 75% (Which doesnt take a few secs)
1.Droid Interface/Flight Computer(2 shots)
2.Booster (3 shots)
3.Capacitor (5 shots)
Then directly afterwards I got killed
Granted I was going up against 2 gunboats and 7 escorts, but with the gunboats having the ability to shoot in just about every direction and somehow each hit being a direct one I get killed withing a minute of the last part of the mission.
Soeven if theNPC is only shooting the chassis reguardless of ifits notaiming directlyat my sub-componets there still going to be hitting them causing them not to work. So if even I had a huge amount of HP on my ship the NPC would stilldisable something everytime before it got my chassis all the way down (i.e. My engines so I would be a sitting target until it got my chassis Hp all the way down)

Im using the droid commands that you have specifited, but in my last post I stated that once it gets my shields down to a certain lvl it always takes out my Droid/Flight Computer first. It never fails. Then I have nothing left to regenerate my shields etc..

Simple. You only need to run the droid commands first. then the only droid commands you might need is shield reinforcement front/rear moderate, but do NOT use Adjustments!
Then take out the first gunboats Engine or Reactor. It wills stop moving, hence you have a sitting duck target.
Do the same to the second gunboat.
Afterwrads take out the escorting vessels, then you have all the time in the world to down the gunboats by taking out one subsystem at a time. And as i said, for ideal downing take out both gunships gun´s 4 through 6 wich will disable their ability to fire towards their back. where you can thensit and take them out
There is one thing that might save you when you are to close to a Gunship and cant outrun it in time...
/iff that is the IFFScramble, wich will illude your tagets into beliving that you are not hostile. This only works of course if you seize firing. But they will leave you alone for a good while, enough time to recharge shields in general.
btw, your ship gets hit in the following order:
First shields till they are down, then armor till it is gone and then you´re hit on chassis AND suncomponents. NPC´s do NOT direkt their fire only at your chassis, but as soon as the armor is gone, you chassis will start taking damage, along with all the components you have installed.

Well, I haven't done this mission yet, but I soon will with my alt...but I take on tier 5 gunboats and 2 ties at the same time everyday in kessel and it's a tough task but what I"m about to tell you is how I solo'd every mission except 2.....and the reason I needed help with those 2 was because I just couldn't find shields that were strong enough and didn't want to wait until I looted some.
But your first bet is to get help from another tier 4 pilot or master pilot......
Anyway, your droid interface is always the first to go when your shields go down, and that's no matter what pilot profession or missions you run.....just a fact.
Nawchir, I don't know what tier 4 boxes you have....but I'm assuming it's 4443 which 90% of everyone gets.....but at this level and looking at your ships components that you posted. Those parts are not good enough to solo difficult missions.
For one, to solo missions without much difficulty, you need shield strength of about 2400+ with at least 12 or 13 regen rate. Combine that with the level 4 emergency shield commands (if you have the droid intelligence theory box...level 4) or level 3 rienforcement commands (if you only have system balance programming box...level 3).
Your first priority when soloing any mission is to protect yourself with the best components you can get because no matter how strong your weapons or engines are if the a.i. take out your shields....your subsystems will start to get hit and take a performance drop that will basically negate any engine overload or weapons overload commands.....what you want to make sure doesn't happen, at all cost keep your shielding up. if it means your front shields are down and your about to take damage to your armor, force the a.i. to hit you where you have shielding left (like rear shields by turning your back to the weapon fire and high tail it out of there until you regen enough by using shield shunt 3 or 4 and any other shield commands you have, it'll buy you time so as long as your not being attacked from all sides).
If you have a mass problem, then go light on armor and you can go light on the engines if you use engine overload commands or you could go drop any countermeasures or missiles you have....save your mass for the shields and weapons for best survival....remember soloing means all the enemies blasters are 100% focused on you....this means you'll take way more damage.....and anyone who says get better engines and anything that doesn't have to do with defense clearly hasn't gone up against 12 ships at once and survived solo.
If possible, get an RE'd capacitor, droid interface and shields....everything else is optional and can only benefit you if you get them RE'd.
As far as which components you should take out on the gun boats....it depends on your distance and angle....because you can take out guns 4, 5, 6....but if the ship starts flopping around like the corvette does, you'll still get hit by the othe turrets...so you should hit the engines next (get it to at least 50%). THis will stop the ship from turning over and hit you with the turrets it still has. But if you can get the 4, 5, 6 guns down and have the manuevability to get very very close to the gunships tail...it can't hit you at all even if it turns so as long as you stay on it like glue.
Use the best cap overload command you have with the strongest guns you have that have the least energy per shot.....if you do it right, you can shoot for 3 minutes without losing cap energy....plus it helps to keep you shooting once you use shield shunt...because shield shunt won't take all your cap energy and you can still keep shooting.
Also, if you do get some strong shields, then you want to get a very fast droid interface.....preferably 13 speed or less. It will allow you to run droid commands about every 20 seconds or so....I can run mine every 17 seconds and I have to tell you if it weren't for droid commands, I'd never be able to solo the things I have.
I may have missed some minor details but I'm sure you can improvise......
OH, I almost forgot, if there are fighters around you...just remember they can only make an attack run on you for a few seconds as long as they are not behind you....and once they make a pass, you have roughly 7 - 10 seconds before they turn and can target you again.....but keep a look out for your flanks and YOU MUST BREAK UP ANY FIGHTERS FLYING IN FORMATION. If you don't, that's the equivalent of a gun boat hitting you (3 ships flying in formation is basically 3 - 6 guns chewing through your ship). Breaking up the fighters will force them to make individual attack runs and you are less likely to take massive damage per attack run.

Yeah on this mission you have to take everything out. If you hyper out before taking everything out you get an automatic failure of the mission and have to start over. Ive tried it and it didnt work :-(
