Currently in JTL the only way to see if another overt player is around you is to hit the target nearest enemy player key. (Map this asap if you haven't already)
Would making them stand out on the Radar improve gameplay?
(IE make them a blinking orange dot)
Or should there be a red light that comes on when another player has targeted u?
(Like radar lock alarm or something)

Tough question i think .
On one hand, i honestly feel i shouldnt have to spam the Z key every 2, 3, or 5 seconds.
On the other hand, i dont think alarm bells should be going off in my oponents ship when i enter the sector or vacinity. (In my minds eye i hear Robby the Robot going, "Danger danger will robinson!" and i have to laugh at the notion)

What about if you using the "target nearest enemy player" key was like a ping and was something that all overt players were alerted to. If you want to use that key it's basically saying, "HEY I'M LOOKING TO FIGHT" If you chose not to use it you could cycle through the entire list of targets trying to find players.
And out of curiosity, does anyone use a macro for this key? Can you just turn it on and have it try to target nearest enemy player every 5 seconds? What if you Hyperspace, doesn't it keep going?

Heh, kinda like active sonar eh? Intresting.

There *is* a passive warning that you're near another human pilot who's in your scanning proximity, overt or covert - you get that same "bal-eep" noise that you get when you target something, it just happens out of turn.

How about we change that sound so that it is unique from the rest? Seems problematic to have the passive warning be a sound you hear all the time.
