Thread: Is JTL ever going to get some real loving?

Greetings

Will JTL be getting as much loving as the ground game for improvement? I know there are new ships being added in the pissed off wookie expansion but, there's still a lot of things that could be done to improve the space game.

Are the dev team ever going to pay more attention to details to make the ground game and space game feel more as one? An example is on planets you see sun or suns rise and set yet when you go into space you see no sign of a sun what so ever. Also on Tatoonie when you look up at the sky in the ground game you notice two big imp ships in orbit yet when you go in to space in tat there's no sign of them. It's little details like this that can help make the 2 games feel more merged.

Also with missions must we go all the way back to the npc that gave the mission if we fail? Why can't we just reactivate mission for the space station menu of the planet the npc is at? Having to go all the way back to the npc that gave the quest really does start to take the fun out of the space game to a huge degree. JTL really does need to change to maintain the fun and immersion. Adding new ships into a borked part of the game is not improving anything.

Having Imperial Star Destroyers in orbit of pretty much every planet would cause game-breaking lag for many users, not to mention the fact that Rebs would get wasted if they so much as misfired once in the proximity of those things. If you want to know where those Star Destroyers are then there is a simple answer, "The other side of the planet."

You can't go back to the planetary station because they aren't always aligned with your side. It would look weird for the Dathomir station to say, "Let me contact your Rebel trainer." They also make you do it to give you a chance to refit your ship if needed.

The thing that needs to be worked on are the droid program settings. Currently, the Tier 3 Overload programs are the equivalent of space buffs with virtually no downside to using them.

JTL has been around for all of fours months and it is one of THE best addons ive seen for an online game. The battles are smooth and require skill, the profits (esp for new players) are great and there is a descent amount of ship types with more to comein every further expantion i'm sure. The lag that sometimes plagues the ground game (assuming it's always the games fault and not poor hardware or software setup by the player) is almost non-existant in space and the ships handle exactly the way they should dependant upon what you equip them with.

Is it perfect? No. AND IT NEVER WILL BE, GET OVER IT! They are DOING (meaning still working on things and developing new features) a great job on the space front. You want it all and you want it now...fine: design it, script it, code it, test it, copyright it, market it, sell it, fix ALL unexpected bugs, answer to any and all user complaints, gripes, pet pives, personal preferences, scedualing conflicts, insecurities and lifetime emotional damages and those of their wifes/husbands, parents, siblings, cousins and former roomates and finally bring us complete and total perfection.

I have to agree that JLS is pretty new and personally I think they should put more time into the interface and bugs and fill in the existing content before worrying about lots of add ons.

Its probably for the best that they continue to patch and tweek the foundation before building lots of expansions into space. They need the base to be as good and tested as possible, or they'll get locked in as they add more and more dependant features and regions.

I think part of the problem is we were all waiting for JLS for so long that anticipations ran high, and the devs now are probably just trying to iron out the issues that have come up with the monster expansion. It was not an extra expansion of ground planets and NPC enemies with new meshes and attacks - it was an addition of an entirely new environment based on entirely different mechanics (all twitch) than the rest of the whole game. Its really a second game with near seamless integration into the main one. I wasn't here back when the ground game was new, but from what I heard it was a while before ny ground vehicles were even added.

From what I see on the forums, I get the impression what is needed most is more communication from SOE and postings in the forums for what they are fixing/planning/etc for JLS. It may help on cutting down on the reoccuring ideas that keep popping up (enterable space stations etc, freighters, player frigate+ class ships, atmo flight, rubberbanding, drunken bees) if they had actively posted about their immediate and longer term goals for JLS.

ROFLMAO, wow you have some low expectations. In order to be doing a great job I would expect them to have at least fixed Weapon Overload 3 by now. The fact that they haven't plus the extensive publishes being put up that have huge additions for the ground game and, if we're really lucky, 1 bug fix for space are becoming very frustrating for JTL players. I'm thrilled that ROTW has so much JTL stuff to add but I am praying that those add ons come with a lot of bug fixes and master content. New ships are great but what we really need is content and bug fixes. These are supposed to be covered in our monthly subscription fees and so far JTL players haven't seem much.

I'd like them to fix the targeting reticle. I hate battling a-wings, since if I shoot directly at the reticle, I hit approximately 0% of the time.

They need to fix the targeting system so your guns actually point at your target. Both the games and books specifically state that the guns align with the current target. Why ours don't is beyond me.
