I thought the Devs stated that this would be the one and only expansion. If that is true why would they show off that it's expansion one?

When did they state that? They've been saying since SWG launched that they would be releasing other expansions later on.

I think Puck is correct, I can't ever recall hearing the Devs say that there wouldn't be any additional expansions.

What they said was the combat rebalance will happen before the next expansion comes out.
