Here is my story.

Tried SWG on release, got turned off in 4.6 minutes of play. Canceled my account. Watched and laughed at a friend that grinded in it for another few months until hefinally can't stand it, quits.

JTL comes out, what the heck, buy it, fire up swg jump in a ship and blast off..

Holy Moly! Now this feels like Star Wars!

Land at a space port,

Walk around and try to find some ways to make $ to support my new found fun in space.. back to the crap game...

Blast off, YES!!!

land.. *sigh*.

Here lyeth a problem in my eyes.

Though JTL is a GREAT game, it almost feels like it should be a game all in itself as the seam between the space game and the ground game is very opaque. IMHO, the devs at SOE should focus on broadening the depth of the space game while taking elements of the ground game into consideration. Player managed/built space stations orstar ports could be a step into the next bigthing. Heck, player controlled 5+ multiplayer capital ships would be make me a permanent subscriber. But even if they did, the ground game would start to look more and more like a ghost town. More players, players like me find more enjoyment in space, but what happens in space has NOTHING to do what happens on the ground.

Devs need to start working on blending these 2 games together as the novelty of JTL will soon start to fade and then players will be left without knowing what the point of space combat is. Yes the combat REBALANCE, no, not a revamp, will help yes, but seriously, will that really attract players to play on both sides of the front? Not likely.

Lots of neato ideas on the boards that I am seeing to bridge the gap between the games.

I strongly suggest that they are taken into serious consideration and implemented SOON.

Comments, suggestions and opinions are welcome!

I totally agree, the only reason i even log in now is for JTL. i only go onto the ground when it is a must. The ground game just has lost its zest and excitment for me.

Well i sure hope this combat revamp really does the trick, the dice roll / hotkey combat is really old. Was kinda hoping for something different when first SWG info popped up years ago. In fact, i believe the original original combat idea was to have it real time where you aim your blaster like in planetside, not grinding, throwing expensive dice at a player and let the UB3R L3wTzOR geek win hands down.

No skill, its a shame, but hope remains for this revamp, if it IS a revamp and not just a rebalance with a few new hotkey options.

Couldn't agree more, but then again, this is what a lot of us have been saying for a long time, long before JTL came out...what does JTL have to do with a boring, broken, lousy ground game?

The fact is, they have me hooked for a while on JTL, and I think JTL is more than worth the $15 a month for now (we'll see how it is later, but now I think it's phenomenal). But that being said, JTL hasn't reinvigorated the ground game for me one bit. In fact, if I didn't have a bunch of credits saved up, I don't know how much I would have been into JTL in the first place, considering I would have had to do some hard grinding to get the stuff I want for my ships. As far as I'm concerned, the ground is just a place to get my next mission, nothing more.

I couldn't agree with you more, the OP has summed up my feeling regarding the Ground and Space game perfectly.
