Thread: How to make MP ships useful to hold us over until capital ships /sign

Dev odds are have all heard about all the capital ships ideas out there and I hope know how many people want them. However the fact is this is going to be a long time in the making to plan design, program and test a capital ship idea let alone all the capital ships people are asking for. What can be done here and now is make MP ships that are currently being used more useful.
Right now MP ships are toasted in battles. One pass with a tie oppressor willmake anova cruiserlook like a tin can with holes in it. The fact is that the turret gunners can't hit anything with in reason. And when they finaly do it something its not much damage since its just one weapon. All that were gunner on a MP ships also know the feeling of shooting at a enemy fighter and the pilot turning the ship and you 100% lose what you were shooting at.
Changes that can be made easly:
Armor: The Desimator is called an assault ship and a nova is a cruiser. When you think of those what do you think of? Wellfor me its a heavily armed and armored ship. In fact look on what it says about the desimator:

Read the first line. Now I don't blame the devI bet the thought was that a level 10 armor and weapons were strong enough. However first oppressors are armed with 3 weapons toast these ships in no time at all. We have to allow MP ships to double up or maybe even triple up on armor. At least 2 in front and at least 2 in back. Also the same with weapons. These are assault ships and cruisers. They are huge targets slow in moving and need something to make up for that.
For those that dissagree thats fine but think for a sec. These ships cost more than anything else to arm and to buy in the first place. Also they take at the very least 3 peopel to run. If you want a full crew you need 5-6. 1 pilot 1 ops 2 gunners 1 or more repair teams. And a fighter takes only 1 pearson. So desimator should have the upper hand because some one isn't attacking one pearson is a powerful ship but rather a team of people that are cramed into a MP ship rather than in there own fighters.

MP ships are at one major problem. Gunners un able to hit anything. So for all you that have played that great old game of tie fighter the computer game there is a weapon called a beam weapon. For you that have never heard of that its like a min tractor beam. It doesn't pull in a target but simply slows it. This could be placed in place of a missles as a secondary weapon. However this weapon should also take power just like a gun does. Now this came up before. This doesn't mean your ship is going to stop your enemys ship. Nor can is it going to be able to be used for minitues at a time. Rather it slows a target about 25% for a few secs. Most people that only fly fighters say thats worthless. Well yes to a fighter pilot it would. however to a gunner in a MP ship those 2 secs they got to fire their guns on a target that they are going to lose in 5 more secs. I also want more idea for other weapons please add ideas below.
Changes that will take TONS of work but worth the wait: (Not my idea)
What they need to do is give more perks for flying MP ships. Such as there is an idea to make a captain a profession. (this is long enough so if you want the full idea go to this thread)

Of course this is what I at least want. I have heard it over and over since JTL started. Or when it was even talked about that they were thinking about doing it. And thats Capital ships. I am not talking about a star destoryer or a mon calmari cruiser. I am talking about ships much smaller. For example I think a marauder corvette is to large Which is 195 meters long. To let you know how big that is a luxury yacht is 50 meters long. Thats all accourding to Star Wars the Essential guide to vehicles and vessels. So thats only 4 times the size of what we have now and I said that was to big. What they could do is get ships like the marauder corvette but change the model number and shrink it. Just say its a diffrent model and this one is smaller. make it 2 times bigger than the yacht or if they can make it 3. Or is they are feeling brave just make the full size one. But make it fit with what the server can handle.

As I said before, why can I repair my weapons but not reload my missiles, simple thing that would make MP ships more realistic and useful. Tractor beam would be nice, but reloading missile would make MP ships so much more useful.

Personally, I think a lot of problems and uselessness of MP ships would be fixed it the Devs made it so the turrets lock forward and fire straight ahead when no one but the pilot is in the ship, and let the pilot fire them from the pilot seat.
Either that, or add a third slot for weapons, which fire straight ahead and are operated by the pilot. I mean, we all know that the Falcon had an extra pair of lasers cannons-- you see them pop out in the Mos Eisley starport and blast a Stormtrooper. Weither those are Han's modifications or not doesn't really matter, they'd be useful.

Or even (hold on, I'm onto something), let thesebe Smuggler modifications. Somehow a Smuggler could modify someone's MP ship and give them access to this third weapon slot that fires forward.
