Does any body use Team speak in space? its cool because you can talk to the people that is in the room. check it out.. www.teamspeak.org

my PA is just starting to get into it. one of my people set up a server and a channel for us.
i use a gaming laptop and the microphone isnt that hot, but on my desktop PC's it works really well.

Although I do love Ventrilo, I have lag in space for some reason, lots of rubberbanding.
Conversly to what the previous person said, we have someone that is a doc for our guild
who is Visualy impaired. So he likes it.
ALhtough to agree with the previous person, we do sometimes forget about guildchat and people
comeon like 2 hours into their session saying "IS anyone on anymore? Geesh"
Gotta remeber those that cannot use it. We're alot better now adays, just took awhile getting
use to both mediums of communicaiton.

I run the risk of sounding selfish when I say I dislike TS or Ventrillo because it pulled people away from guildchat where I cannot get involved in conversations.. I'm hearing impaired and cannot use TS/Ventrillo =(
ah well.. the world doesn't revolve around me.. carry on =P

We (SInc) been using Voice Chat programs for many years, i could not imagine any MMORPG without Voice chat anymore ^_^
It all started with BattleCom but in the end we got stuck with TeamSpeak 2.
VoiceChat users allways have a big advantage compared to chat typers. Cuz "Talking" does not require typing and hence you got ur hands free for other stuff. Exeptionally good in combat
Back in the neocron days people evenb1tchedabout voice chat being an exploit

I've been thinking about using teamspeak. How resource intensive is it, any notice in performance issues while running it?

Resource Use? Totally Negligable! The Client anyway... the server depends on the amount of people connected to it, but for a single clan with no more then 25 people using TS it´s also still Negligable.

The better the codec, the better the voice quality, but also the higher the resource and Up/Download needs...

providing your sound card supports full duplux audio.. if not, then you'll bog your PC down even more than it probably already is

I can´t think of a single reason why anyone would still use a Half-Duplex card 
Anyway,ur right, should´ve mentioned that as well
But is there still someone out there honestly using a non-full-duplex card?

My sons and I, along with some friends, use Ventrillo. We pay $9.00 (or so) per month to havePureVoice host the server, and run the clients on our PCs. We have noticed NO lag when using "the box" as we call it. In space where you need both hands to fly and fight a ship it has proven very valuable. The game is just more fun when you don't have to type messages to your group. By the way we live in different cities, and this also gives us a chance to "visit" both during and after play.
