Since this discussion about pvp damage doesn't seem to have an end, why not just make another zone in space. Leave it empty if that makes things easier and drop pvp damage to 25% in that zone. Then players can see for themselves how reducing damage will affect gameplay.

But then we would have 2 empty zones instead of one. And Zero + Zero = Zero. haha
But anyway I think the best way to do that would be testing on a Test Server.

We don't have damage problems on the test server. Who wants to grind out a test character just to test there, do it on the live server in a special zone. makes more sense and more ppl will participate.

making another sector won't change anything because we don't need a damage reduction... but ya, we've been over this way too much lately..
so I got ambushed by a Firespray last night and took to good hits and survived to kill the guy.. tell me damage needs to be reduced? *shakes head* LEARN TO FLY!

LOL me and a few guys flew out there in our yt 1300. Saw nothing but covettes, tier 5 ships, and a bad%#$ stardestroyer. We promptly left the area and headed for kessel to gather cash for better weapons lol....

You know, there's nothing to stop anyone on either side of the damage argument from strapping on a MKI or MKII crafted blaster instead of their RE'd super guns to see what a damage nerf would do.
According to several people who tested this out, capacitor to shield shunt makes killing someone near-impossible in a large enough furball.

No offense, but if you survived two hits from a Firespray, it means one of three things...
A. He had poor guns, or...
B. He only hit you with one gun, or...
C. You have a shifted shield.
It is not hard at all for a Firespray pilot to mount two Level 8 reward guns or better on his ship, meaning that if he hits with both guns he can easily have an average PvP damage output of between 6000 to 8000. If he mounts dual level 10 guns, which is also not hard at all, then he can very likely have a setup where even on a minimum damage roll he will still do 7000+ PvP damage. Evenif they have an RE'd level 8 reward shield and Mark V armor, almost everyone is going down in one hit from those guns.

Yeah, that was me. I had actually just come from DS but for some reason my droid commands all reset so I was fumbling with those when I started to attack. I wasn't fully setup and had a bad angle which caused me the two shots i got off on the first pass to only have 2 of 8 bolts actually land (OC3 3500 dmg). This was just poor preperation for an attack on my part but if memory serves i killed your shields with 2 bolts and by the time i manuevered around two shots from you took out my lvl9 2300 shields and killed me. It was nice manuevering by you but I have to agree that space pvp needs a bit of a toning down to avoid first shot kills (other than botched attempts.. see me
