Wanted this to be a thread of your own experiances with space mining. What works, what fails. Sure some of us want to keep our trade secrets and corner the market, but I think healthy competition is best for any economy.

So far my biggest gripe is with the tractor beams. They target only one little asteroid chunk, and if you're at the wrong angle, it can zoom right past you instead of being pulled into the cargo hold. You waste more time this way. So far the most effecient method for me has been loading up my ship (X-wing) With two of the mkIII mining lasers. The rocks are torn apart so fast that you can simply blast the smaller chunks, and get a lot more in your hold over time, rather than getting a larger portion from one asteroid if you maange to pull it in with a tractor beam.

I've yet to try this with a Y-8. Have to get the resources to build those Elite mining lasers. Once I do that I'll post again and relate any changes I notice there.

Back to the tractor beam, it simply isn't a viable means of getting resources. Unless it becomes a cone effect, or, it drags in asteroids at a MUCH accelerated rate, they're not worth it. But of course this is all my experiance, maybe you guys have found an efficient way to use them. If so, let us know

Thats right the Traktor beam is useless cause its tooks hours to get one small chunk in the cargo room.

Another useless thing is the y-8 vessel , the gun turrets are at absolutly useless positions to mine more efficent.

You're right about the bad angle thing, but with practice I've gotten it to a point where the tractor beam is working for me everytime and VERY quickly.
