Is that if you use all the same dna? I can't belive it would stick no matter where you put it...

Ooo interesting question. I don't know the answer, however I am hoping someone with more expertise does.

The FAQ has the calculations... If you mix effective and special resists, you get 0 for the effective and whatever value for the special, and you wont be able to experiment it up. For example, if you combined MH-MH-MA-MA-MDH, for Kinetic you'd get:
75S*.4+75S*.25+50S*.05+50S*.05+10E*0=43.75 Special Kinetic Res, and you wont be able to experiment it up.
However, if you ended up with armor, you'd still have the 43.75 Kinetic res.
If you use all MH DNA, you'll cap out at 60. If you use all MA, you'll get 55 Special. If you use all MDH, (all effective) you'll be able to experiment up to the full 10% resistance

gotchya.... The way I read your fist response was that if lets say Jimmy's had 100% SPECIAL electric res.. Mixed with others that had little or no resitfulness you still get the 100% electric.

I think what he is asking and I am curious about is if I have 1 DNA sample that has 100% to blast in special resists would it automatically be 100% in the final combine. Or would I be required to use multiple DNA samples to get the 100% to stick as a special resist. At least I think that is what he is asking and that is what I am curious about also.

You would need to have all your DNA samples have 100% special resist, or else have all the DNA have 100% effective and experiment it up to the full value. Either way, you cant get a 100% resist on a creature that uses DNA with both special and effective resists for blast, for example. Special is the 'dominant gene', so to speak, and cancels out the effective, thus giving lower numbers.

Ah thank you very much. So if I understand this correctly I would still have to apply the formula in order to get 100% on a particular special resist.

Well, if you have DNA with special resist at 100 in all five slots, you'll end up with 100, no math necessary, its just when you mix special and effective that you realy need to whip out a pen and paper and do some math *cheers*

God I must be dense today. I am assuming from your posts that special resist and effective resists are the same, except that effective has to be experimented on and special can not be. Thank you very much for the help so far. This is my first crafting profession and I chose it because of it's difficulty.

delerious... you may not be able to understand fully until you apply it... try making different pets with different resists and see what happens... the best thing to really consdier is tha slot one is weighed heaviest, then slot 2 then slot 5 for resists.
so if you want a good resist, use those 3 slots, also certain resists are capped at 60 so Kinetic even if you were able to get a MMPS you would still only get 60 kin.
to really understand you have to play.
