you have to be able to own more then one ship... you automaticaly get a luxury ship of yuor a vetran. I'm sure that not everyone will want JUST the luxery ship, so they will get a different one. making the free ship very pointless and should be in there if you can only own one ship.

Also will Jedi be easier to figure out in jump to lightspeed and can you keep your already made characters?

That's like saying that there are no 1973 Ford Mustangs around today. There are Droidekas if you are unlucky enough to come across them. Why not a few fighters from the "past"...
