Thread: CAPITAL SHIPS ARE ON THE WAY!!!
Here's what I'd like to see done with capital ships:
1- I'd like to be able toload my ships onto it. A ship the size of the vette should fit 4 starfighters or1 starfighter and a multi-player ship. This way I can leave mycapitol shipin any sector of space and work out of it running seek and destroy missions.
2- I want to see my ships in the docking bay and get into them like I would a vehicle.
3- I want to be able to allow players on board. The amount I can allow would be set and affected by the amount of my own ships I have docked.
4- I want to be able to load up other player ships from a starport term. The vette and other player ships will have to be docked on the same planet, city to do so.
5- I can't say enough how much I want to see bots put into the game to man ships stations. You shouldn't be limited to needing other players to man them for you. The Star Trek MMO is designing its capitol ships this way, Star Wars should have it to.
6- It's unlikely since JTL is needed to get these ships but I'd like to see ground faction determine what kind of capitol ship you can get as well as space faction. As an RSF in space I'm allied with the Empire. I'm also Imp on ground. I'd rather not regrind and go Imp in space, I'd hate to lose my Vaksai. That's just me though.
7- I want to be able to earn a cert. for a capitol ship, not theship it's self froma quest. Shipwrights should have to craft them; It's only fair.

umm
no.
you see the guy go into the hangar, but no is seen to be steering the ISD. you board the corvette, but do not actually see the guy entering its hangar.
At the end, the corvette simply jumps to hyperspace, the pilot might not have had anything to do with controlling it. just looks like another quest to me...

Well, a Corvette isn't that much bigger than a Y-8 (only by 40m).
As long as we don't have Mon Cal cruisers, roaming around, how you're going to get dozens of people up there just to operate the thing is beyond me. Also, with a length of 400m, imagine how long it will take you to run to repair all the components
Entering the ship itself after a successful dock does sound like a nice idea though.
You may need a whole guild to operate.
Uhmmm....don't worry about manning a Capital Ship, especially a Corvette ( which all factions are liable to have), there will be people knocking down your door to man the weapons and other stations. The closest thing you'll have to a personnel prob;em will be the Bridge Crew, and if you're in a Guild, that won't be a problem either.
Not in a guild? Just post your positions openings on the Server Forum that you belong to ( like Bria), and take applications.
You didn't try hard enough. My YT1300 is over 1.2 million mass.

What do we will do with 5M mass? my decimatordid not get to 500k With all the goodies.
Ok.... if corvettes actually do becoma player piloting what happens when it explodes ??
Where does it go for repairs ?? How much money ??
Could neutral aces use these? cuz if they wont be able to....zoom im off to imp or reb so fast.
And the idea of guild only owned cap ships...whees the fun in that?
There are those of us who LIKE not being owned by a guild and having a tag
Tho it does raise the question, could their be like a flight crew group , kindof like a guild but without the tag and its for space. That way u dont have to be in a guild to talk with a flight squad of o say 24 people
From watching it over and over, I got a nasty creeping sensation... a feeling that it goes like this:
The capitol ship is a quest. The corvette and the ISD are parked in kessel. You get a quest somewhere to go to Kessel and go to the ISD. In there, you walk to Vader. Vader says, go get the vette. You fly over to the vette, and board. You fight your way to the bridge, and click a button. You see the vette jump to hyper space. You're told you've won the quest, and can go get back in your fighter to fly back to vader and get your kewl lewt widget. End of quest.
I don't want to believe that, and truthfully just getting to walk around in an ISD looks interesting. Simply involving a vette you see from the outside, dock with, and walk around inside, is a great thing. But, what I saw was more akin to the Avatar station, than player pilotable capital ships.
