Thread: I wonder...

You know, it's been said several times that smugglers won't be complete without the space expansion and that we are going to want to get the expansion etc. etc.
Just how much of that is true and how much is just trying to sell us magic beans?
I wonder, what precisely, is being put into JTL specificly for the smuggler profession? What specific skills or incentives are going to be there just for us (you know, because we're "more complete" with the space expansion)? Perhaps we're just supposed to buy JTL so when they do actually get around to revamping smugglers that smuggling missions will get integrated into space...
I recall quickly reading over a post not too long ago talking about implimenting "delivery missions" into JTL and SOE mentioned that there was no "delivery mission" or a plan to put it in before JTL launches. I would speculate that a smuggler mission would be a lot like a delivery mission (I wouldn't know authoritatively because I've never been able to actually smuggle anything yet). So where does that leave us? I don't think we'll be getting our own weapons or ships, so the question still stands...
I have a feeling that if I even if this post gets responded to, it'll be along the lines of "We can divulge that infomation blah blah blah..." So what do you guys think will be in JTL specificly for smugglers, if anything at all?
PS: I've become acustomed to the feeling of smoke being blown up my shorts over the last 10 months or so. If SOE tries to take that away too, I'll be crying bloody nerf!
Based on this post ... http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=lightspeed&message.id=39093#M39093... looks like nothing.
In particular, question 20.
20. Will there be any non-combat related space activities, such as, for example, trading/courier missions or exploration missions? Are there any plans to expandJtL to include merchants or prospectors or any other play styles apart from 'combat monster'? ( Dynonychus )
Not at this time, but in the future, there are many possibilities that we can explore.
I think that says it all... ![]()

The interview everyone's already read and quoted tells us exactly what the Smuggler content will be in JTL:
"So I would tell him to definitely be excited about that and if he’s a Smuggler and has always dreamed of having his YT-1300 transport he’s going to have his opportunity to sort of recreate that whole Han Solo persona."
That seems to just about cover it. You're gonna get to have a YT1300, just like Han Solo...
And we get a persona! Oooooh... persona! I wonder, will that be listed in the Master Skill Box? And if so, will we be able to see it?
Just imagine:
Wandering through the back streets of Bestine with a TEF from a little "Imperial Entanglement" a block back, a Master Smuggler hears the loud "thrmmmm" of a red lightsaber ignighting behind him...
Saster Muggler says, with a twinkle in his eye "Ah sithspit!"
((Spams "/hanSoloPersona" hotkey while tabing to find the Jedi))
Saster Muggler disbelieves in Marth Daul's hokey oldrelegion
Marth Dauluses nerfing blow onSaster Mugglerfor infinate damage
Saster Mugglerhas beenincapacitated
Saster Muggler is no more

Just don't drop our pre-requisites. Our pre-requisites and cost to master justifies any claims to power for the Combat Rebalance.
Commando, as far as I recall when I joined in late February, is the profession with the most Combat oriented pre-requisites. Even Bounty Hunter in the old Master Marksman / Master Scout pre-req's couldn't match our pure Combat pre-req's.
Our pure Combat oriented pre-req's is our ace in saying why we rate more power.
I so wish I had absolutely any say in the combat revamp, but if it makes you feel better I agree!
BTW Comment on this, let me know your opinions!!!!!!

Yeah, the last time I saw a proposal like this (that I remember) was in the AFK former-sticky from the Music forums. People blasted the idea because they thought it would be too much of a hassle. Personally I like the idea (for buffing, not healing).

Actually, when this topic was brought up the devs, it wasn't brought up for buffing. It was brought up for basic healing. Most people didn't feel like it would be worth the extra experience or faster healing to have the popup, and that it would be too much of a distraction. There were other issues involved, such as being told what flourishes to perform in order to get these extra benefits, which would detract from people's performances. I tended to agree with this viewpoint.
However, I and many others suggested that if we tweaked this idea a little bit and made it for buffing instead of healing, it would be much more palatable, and possibly be worth the added effort, because the benefits would be worth it. The devs never expounded on this idea and I think, they just decided to forego the idea altogether. It's a shame, because I would have liked to see them implement something like they suggested, but with fewer restrictions on our performance, in order to give us an upperhand on the bots.
