Thread: Boarding Parties

I do like the idea of going on a mission to attack and capture a Corvette though. That could be a Faction based mission with slightly different reasons attached as a story. Regardless of the faction, this would be one tough mission and would definately require more then a small 2 or 3 person strike team.
For the Rebellion, the capture mission would be about either obtaining a new capital ship for the ongoing conflict. For the Empire, the mission would be about capturing a Rebel ship to use in a clandestine operation against a Rebel group. For the Neutrals, it could be for a number of different reasons, depending upon who the player is working for.
How would you write up little mission stories to go along with such a mission?
Rebel Corvette Capture:
From Admiral Ackbar:
We have located a hidden shipyard which is turning out new Corellian Corvettes for the Empire. One of these Corvettes is near completion. Your task is to go in and capture the Corvette. This craft has a full crew, so bring your best strike team and expect full resistance. Your primary target would be the Capture of the Corvette, you also would be doing theRebellion a great service to cause as much damage in the shipyard as possible.
Empire Corvette Capture
From Captain Neda:
We have just intercepted plans for a Rebel redevous, our sources tell us that there will be a transfer of supplies from an inbound frieghter to a Rebel Corvette. We need you to assemble a strike team to disable and capture the Corvette. Analysis of the data on the Corvette could provide us with valuable information of Rebel movement and could help us pinpoint the hidden Rebel base. It is important to cause as much harm to the Rebelion as possible, so instruct your fighter escort to destroy as many Rebel targets as possible. This mission is of the highest priority and was given to me by Lord Vader himself, capturing that Corvette could spell the end of the Rebelion.
Neutral Corvette Capture(Smuggler Alliance):
From Talon Karde:
A matter of great importance has come up and I need you to attend to it immediately. A Corsec Corvette has been trapped in deep space with a damaged hyperdrive. We want you to assemble a team to get out there and capture it for us. You'll need to board her and take over the bridge, so bring your best men along. We got this info through some pretty unsecure channels, so you should bring a fighter escort to take care of other interested parties.
"Medical Emergency!"
Mission Brief - "You have got to help us! A Corvette on a diplomatic mercy mission to the planet Rilu IV has suffered a terrible calamity. All onboard have become infected with Rodian Meazles, which is normally a very safe disease, for Rodians, but has mutated into a dangerous pathogen that threatens Galactic Commerce! Don't ask where we got it, but we have an antidote, we need you to get to the Corvette, board it and make sure the antidote gets into the hands of the ship's medic. Please hurry, word of this tragedy has gotten out and we fear the ship might be attacked rather then be allowed to land at any starport! If you take this mission, we will innoculate you so that you don't have to worry about coming down with the Rodian Meazles."
Payment: 20,000 Credits
Details: The mission would take place in an instanced Deep Space region. The mission seems straightforward, but will be slightly more complicated then that. The ship will be under attack by some 'Rodian Pirates' that includes a boarding vessel.
The opposition includes a number of enemy fighters that will attack the PCs while the enemy boarding craft is beginning its boarding manuerver. This is easily accomplished by the 'Rodian Pirates' because the Corvette is powered down and defenseless, because the crew is mostly sick.
After battling the fighter screen, the party can complete a boarding dock procedure and then are moved to an interior scene inside the Corvette. Once onboard the party will come under immediate attack by 'Rodian Pirates' who have previously boarded the ship.
The party now has at least two with a hidden third objective to complete. The first is to battle to the Medical bay in order to delivery the antigen to the Ship's Medic. The second is to clear the ship of 'Rodian Pirates'.
As the party makes their way through the ship, the hallways can/will be littered with NPCs laying on their backs, incapacitated. Upon delivering the antigen, the Medic will release the antigen in an airborn form that will take immediate effect, bringing the Corvette's crew back to life. At that point, the party will have the assistance of the Corvette's Crew to clear the remaining 'Rodian Pirates' off the vessel.
The hidden objective would be for the party to ignore the primary mission and just battle their way to the ship's hold. This will be most dangerous, because the 'Rodian Pirates' will be concentrated in that area of the ship. Once the 'Rodian Pirates' are defeated the party can steal the cargo, which would be some rare resources or special high-end components for some crafting profession and then they can leave the ship and blow it up, or leave it intact.
Performing the hidden objective would get the characters involved pushed onto the BH Boards or moved higher up the visibility of the BH boards. Of course, they could complete all three objectives, but would also have to battle through the Ship's crew in order to reach the cargo, which will still put them on the BH boards.
This mission would provide a good and a bad solution to players, offering up more Role-Play choice. It would include some additional coding, in the form of temporary faction alignment with the Corvette Crew, that could be turned the opposite way near the end of the mission and also some code, which might already exist, that would allow NPCs to be incapacitated on the ground only to be 'revitalized' after a trigger has been set.
Regardless, the mission would be a fun diversion form the same old, same old.
Thanks.

I seriously hope the Devs take a look at and consider adding some of these space based adventure ideas. They would significantly add to the SWG experience.
