Yeah, and I'm assuming that most SW ships are far faster (yeah, I know, there is no real top speed except lightspeed in space) than any spacecraft we have now. And the shuttle orbits the earth... at a pretty high speed. So ships in JtL should be able to move faster than that. I personally would love to lure any enemy into Tatooine's atmosphere and fool him into doing some crazy move made for space and burn his ship up. Or use the gravity of a large asteroid or moon to create a slingshot effect and zip past a Star Destroyer while firing space bombs at it.
Then again... that would require physics, which the devs seem to be unable to grasp...

Faster than whatwe have now? In orbit, the space shuttle travels at over 100,000 mph as it is. You would not be able to dogfight with anything that way. If you tried to line something up in your sights, you'd be 10 miles past it before you even realized it was there.

Leave the dogfight speed alone, how about cruising speed? We can't dogfight at 100,000mph,Iagree. But when it comes to travelling between waypoints, we should be able togo a lot faster than we do now. 10km distance now takes several minutes to travel which is way too long.

To the original poster. I do know there is a sun in the dantooine system. If you look at the planets that line up and look at their bright side, follow that side until you see the bright(er) glaring star in the background. Based on the distance though, I'd have to say dantooine is a VERY cold planet.

May not actually be Dantooine's mother star then. Could just be an unusually close neighbor.

Eek!
Can't remember where I first got the info, but poked around the net. Confirmed. My bad.
(Even that I think would be too fast to have a dogfight though) particularly in the films, where when you have a stationary object to compare them to,starfighters aretraveling no faster than fighter jets.

NO! The suns must come out and play! I'm tired of having to plug my TIE into my house at night because I can't get anygood solar energy while in space.

Or it's a mystery how not windy it is on the surface when you watch how fast those clouds are moving from a spaceship.
On a side note, though, I think they should add suns and it's something I noticed the first time I played, especially since there is no lens flare (which would rule).

LOL! I was gonna say, where the heck did you get 100,000 mph? At that speed, a shuttle could orbit the earth like... somewhere around 3 times an hour (I forget what the exact circumference of the earth is, I think it's like 30 somthing thousand). Yeah, we can't dogfight at 17,000 mph, but it would be nice to cruise somewhere around that speed. And having a 16 km by 16 km by 16 km area to fly in, which the shuttle could cross in like... several seconds, doesn't help the physical aspect of the game much...
But we're kind of getting off topic here.

*KOTOR SPOILER*
Actually, according to KOTOR, Tatooine became a desert when the sand people revolted from the rakata slavers(spelling?) and they "nuked" their planet. The sand people only survived since they hid in caves for decades while the glassy surface broken down to sand.
