The Naboo N1 Fighter is handmade. But guess what? Thanks to no real factory support, every ship a shipwright makes is technically handmade.
An updated N3 or N4 fighter could be built. Its quite possible. Maybe put the engine pods further back or pop in a third pod under the cockpit. Something that sets it apart but at the sametime shows it is the N series.
As for the design of the N1 you cant blame that on the Star Wars universe. Blame that on the senses of movie patrons. The movies change things based on the populace attending the movies. That is why Ep 1 and 2, before Ep. 4-6, ships look sleeker and more curves. Because we as fans changed our likes from blocky shapes to streamlined shapes.

Concerning the timeline issue. . . the original Y-Wing is about as old as the N1 Starfighter. Granted, the Y-Wing was a mass produced ship while the N1 was built on Naboo for local defense only. So they would be less popular by simple logic. But as far as people saying that they are from the wrong time, that's not really true. In fact, the Z-95 is probably about as old, too.
The problem with using the N1 as the Privateer Master ship is that it's a lightweight, underpowered dogfighter. Imagine a cross between the A-Wing (good) and the Z-95 (OUCH). That's pretty much what you would get with the N1. There are whole lists of ships that are appropriate for the Privateer Master ship (including a number of sturdier models made in Corellia, and used frequently by CorSec), though.
I would like to see more "all purpose" fighters in the game, like the Firespray is. The N1 could have a place there.

It's a nice design and everything....but personally I don't like it...at all. I'm not into theEU and all that, only saw the three original movies before Ep. 1....I expected star wars, sharp edges, grey, black, whitish and some red on the rebel ships (though I quickly realized the empire hadn't even been created yet)...and then this sleek, shiny, sperm of a ship enters and I really got a bad feeling about the movie, which turned out to be correct. So it's a trauma thing.
But sure, I'm all for new ships...and I wouldn't mind it being RSF only....since I wouldn't get it...ever.

I think it would be nice to see the npc factions fly different ships. Like the RSF fly the naboo fighter. Give the game more detail.

a repost form another thread.
I'm for this, Hell to be a RSF pilot without a RSF fighter is silly. It would give some flavor and be real cool. They should have been out long before all the wookie stuff thats around the corner.
It should be out there (Along with other Naboo crafts).
They can even make their own varaiations of naboo fightrs, to update them and make them interesting if they want, they do that with other faction crafts, why not the Naboo?
Also I have to say that I believe that the Vet reward Yatch deal is nice, but they should make it so it does NOT take up one of your ship spots. Its a freebie and should not take up a spot. Either that, or increase the limit on how many ships you can have. I would rather they just made the Yatch a "phantom" slot.

i hope that all of you saying that it shouldnt be in the game because of timline issues takes a second look. general gervious is going to be in the expansion, we have way more then 3 jedi running around, we have genosians on yavin 4 and the list goes on. the argument that it isnt the right time period really doesnt apply well to SWG.

I do find it strange how the "Police Force" ie CorSec/RSF use ships built for criminals...
