Thread: I'm going to weld both turrets on my vt49 so they fire forward.

I don't see any reason not to let them fire forward by default for the pilot. Having been in a few, I can see the outcome if anyone (even the best pilots) ever tried to solo in combat with them.
Fire! Fire!
Turn...
Turn...
Turn...
"OMG cant get this guy off me!"
Alarms blare
"Arrrrggh!!"
Huge ship explodes in a spectacular fireball that your foe will get much joy in seeing.
These ships are pretty much death-traps if you try to fly alone. No matter how good your engine is, if the enemy gets behind you in a starfighter ...you're toast.
Yes this will most likely be the case. Then what is the harm in allowing them to fire forward if there is no other people on board. Group play will still be encouraged and they will be more powerful with a full crew. This issue bothers me so much so that I am ready to leave the game over it.

Again, what would be the point? You wouldn't be able to fight anything other than the slowest tier 1 ships.
And if they did do that, what next? Would you be back on the forums complaining about how slow the mps's are? About their inability to turn? I can see the argument now...."I can lock the guns forward, but I can't HIT anything, so what's the point? They should give the mps ships better handling."
I mean, I can't even lock my damned missiles onto anything in my decimator, much less dogfight.
I think the whole point of an mps is, that they're SUPPOSED to be completely useless in a fight with only one person. There's too much firepower available. I've got two experimental blasters mounted in mine...that's up to 8k or more damage a shot. Way too much for one person to have.

I would be happy if the ship wouldn't stop as soon as I left the pilot chair. The Autopilot should work out of the turret as well and not disengage when you leave the pilot/turret station and the hyperspace jump should also be initiated from the turret, if the gunner chooses to do so. Also, follow shouldn't break when leaving the pilot's station. That way you could follow a friend around or travel somewhere via autopilot (what's the point of an autopilot anyway, when you have to stay in the pilot's seat for it to work?!) while you talk with your passengers, check your cargo. drink and gamble.

get 3 mark I proton launchers from the bazaar, along with factory crates of mark I proton missiles
they do the same damage as level 9 blasters (around 3k max)
they track the target so the handling is not that critical
here you have your forward "blasters"
now stop bothering grownups and do your homework !

.....Most of you talk likethe VT49 or other MP ships have 0 maneuvering ability. If I could fire both of my guns from the pilots seat I could /easily/ take tier 3-4 ships in squads of4-5 at a time. ( A wings would be a large pain in the ass though). Sure I would probably get peppered a bit in the rear but it's not a flying death trap. As it is the enemy AI is so stupid it works better to be slower and blast them away as they come in.
But even for you that say it is /useless/ to have forward firing turrets because of the supposed lack of manuverability, my original post was from a roleplay prespective. Yes I can call up a crew to fly up in my VT49 at any hour of the day, I want to be able to fly it myself too. This is the flipping STAR WARS universe, we have a science that can buff people two be stronger then four times that of a normal person or character as it were, along with other grand things. How can you tell me that therewould /not/ be a way to fire turrets from the pilotsseat? They gave us a really nice ship customization system to allow us to have ships that can fly and be different then the next person, lets take the customization alittle further.
So by your own admission, you want to use the mps as a 5 million mass fighter.
In that case, definately DO NOT lock the guns forward. It isn't about science, or roleplaying. It's about people who want to unbalance the game. Fighters have masses of 200k and under for a REASON. It's to keep any one fighter from dominating everything.
I mean, by your own admission, you wantto DOGFIGHT an a-wing in a VT49, and WIN. Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense.
When you put it that way, I go from not understanding whyyou want to do it, to being damned dead set AGAINSTdoing it.

....... I can do more damage, and consistant damage with guns since NPC's have unique ability to ignore missles. By the way... did it make you feel big to use the the word "grownups"?
no you can't as you don't have guns as pilot, what do you think ? if EVER the devs put forward guns, there will be one gun, no more, or you were daydreaming about 2 or 3 ? maybe 3 guns forward for the pilot and 2 turrets, with the handling of an a wing and breakfast in bed... and I don't like to do or say things to "feel" things, thank you for asking, it doesn't make me "feel" bigger or whatever, just tried, and obviously failed, to point the fact that those posts are like kid's caprice. I don't see where this post is going anyway, I'll spend my time doing something else than posting here.
