I agree.
A Rebel should be able to purchase Rebel Flight Suits and Helmets at a recruiter, just as an Imperial should be able to purchase a TIE flight suit and Command Hat.

someone on the GCW forum posted a working pic of it. It looks like a rebel flight helmet from the movies, except it has a facemask. Check the flight helmet petition thread.

Military units make you cut your hair, for practical as well as asthetic purposes, thats a fact anywhere you go, and in a rigid military regime like the Empire, you can be sure they would cut no slack whatsoever in that regard.

Humans and Zabracks, along with Sullisans would actually fit into a regular helmet. Twi'lek, Wookiees, Trandoshans, Mon Calmari, Bothans, and Rodians, along with the new Ithrorians ( <-- duh!)wouldn't fit into a regular one. Just think- Lekku, Wookiee heads and lots of fur, Trandoshan's reptilian skull ridges, Mon Cal's domed heads, Bothan and Rodian snouts, and Ithorans....yeah. Make new specialized helmets for other species. The Rebels were diverse; they'd make new helms to accomidate all comrades.
Release the helms as they are ready, if some don't get it as soon as others. This is coming from a Human, and A Wookiee, and a Bothan. That is all.

If they can make that funky looking Rebel Ace Helmet (which is based on the REALRebel Flight Helmet), why don't they have the Standard Helmet in the game yet?
(AND NOT AS A "LOOT" ITEM!!!)

Apparently I underestimated the amount of people who would be intersted in those screenshots, and in less than a month there was already over 1000 hits which sucked up the rest of my bandwith for the month.
After that my webhost locked the account a few days agowhich is why you guys were getting the 400 server error when you tried to see them. The good news though is that the small bandwith bill is paid and my account is active again which means you can see the screenshots now. I also resized and resampled the screenshots to greatly reduce the size so that this wont happen again. Originally I uploaded the unedited 1280x1024 shots (which were close to about 1MB each) so obviously my bandwith quota didn't last long at all. 
The new files though are all 100KB or smaller, so it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Without the face mask part that helmet could easily fit bothans and rodians. with only slight remodelling it could fit trandoshans, and sullustans and even twi leks. The only species that need fully different helmet designs are ithorians and mon cal. Wookies... tend not to wear anything.
If anyone here was a hard core star wars fan that read the Rogue Squadron comics, you would have already seen a myriad of helmet designs for different speices, including twi leks, sullustans, mon calimari, turnoths and bith.
As i said before the regular rebel helmets fit rodians and bothans fine without the facemask. Rodians were in the comic as well. Just look up art from X-Wing Rogue Squadron.
