Could anyone explain to me why there is such a thing as an XP cap?

I find it very annoying that when I do my best to kill something very tough and dangerous (which is fun) yield the same XP as killing hordes of non-threatening mobs *cough* squills.

If I would just receive a proper (or even biased towards more danger) XP reward, I would be having alot more fun while playing this game.

You could say to heck with it and just kill NS and such without receiving much XP, but seeing the reward for 10 minutes of fighting being equal to 1/5 of a few seconds AOE spam compared to the enormous amounts of XP needed (not to mention the loss when dying)cannot justify the mere increase of fun by killing higher level Mobs.

So that's why I would like to know,

why does killing something like a NS elder yield the same xp as killing something 100 times less powerfull ?

It's determined by your personal jedi difficulty level, which increases as you learn new Jedi skills. The more powerful you become the higher your xp cap will become.

Thank you! I always wondered what personal jedi difficulty was all about.

Ok, I'm doing Privateer and I was 1/1/1/1 working towards getting my first Tier 2 box. I was out doing an escort frieghter mission near Lok and I only needed like 5k xp to go. I got the message in the middle of my first run that I can now train for a Tier 2 box. But, I didn't want to stop in the middle of the mission and get trained, since I can't come back to the mission once I leave the sector. So, I kept fighting. But, then I noticed that I wasn't getting any xp after reaching 60k. Then I looked at my skills and found out that even though I needed 60k for the box, my xp STOPPED at 60k. Why is this? There should not be a cap of xp at the exact required xp needed. Tier 2 xp cap should be around 100k or so, maybe even higher. There is no other profession out there that caps xp at the required level of xp needed to go up to the next level box. Hell, even Tier 1 allowed you to go over the xp needed for a Tier 1 box. Why does Tier 2 not allow you to go over?

Hope this helps!

I'm not talking about after you get a Tier 2 box, I'm talking before you get it. When I was working on Tier 1, before I even got a box, because they don't allow you to get any boxes until you have completed certain missions, like 4 to be exact, I had well over 7500 xp, enough to get 2 Tier 1 boxes when I was allowed to train. When I reached 60k, which is the required amount of xp needed for your first Tier 2 box, I stopped getting xp. So, I wasted about 2 or 3k of xp, probably more. This cap should have been higher.

I just made Initiate last nightso please excuse the noob question.

Theguide recommends getting your 20k of Jedi xp before you reach padawan so you don't have to worry about BH Terminals. Is 20k the cap for Initiate or can I grind to 40K?

im not sure if there is a cap, but i would highly suggest getting novice sabers asap. its not going to be fun grinding an extra 20k without any saber skills.

20k is what you need for your first novice box. If that is the case and in most cases you can bank up to double your highest amount you should be able to store 40k at a time. Your next box after the novice box is 200k so you can get Novice LS then bank a lot of xp.
