I personally want to see Pilot and Jedi remaining seperate. Let the ground-game be the way to get Jedi. I agree FS grinding is hell, if you could convert Pilot XP/Prestige to FS it would cruise by! That I acknowledge. But, isn't the FS grind supposed to be daunting?
if Prestige could = FS exp then I would be at a great advantage over the average pilot. Why? Because by ACE'ing multiple times you get an increased exp multiplier. So ok, this is good right? Then more people would be multiple ace's.
Well yes and no. Anything that gets more pilots into space is a good thing in my book, but on the otherhand that also attracts people that aren't pilots by choice, they're pilots to get jedi. This leads to threads like....
"NERF the Droid Junkers in Endor!"
"I got jumped in DS and that guy is a Jerk!"
"Shouldn't we get more exp per tier 1 kill?"
etc... I don't want to see FS grinding affect JTL the same way that the Holocraze affected the groundgame. Lets leave the Jedi stuff where it belongs, on the ground. In space, it's skill based. If you can get a bead on me, you win. If I can get a bead on you, I win. If we start getting every grinder from the ground into space we're gonna see nerf cries, complaints and BS that has nothing to do with JTL.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Jedi or the FS grind, I just don't think it belongs in space. I'd like to see more pilots up there to enjoy what JTL has to offer than just to go camp space POI's for exp.

Xp convert would be nice. BUt what I really want is something else besides trips into Deep Space for my hundreds of thousands of Imperial Prestige Points...

I don't like buffs or grenades, so this works really well for me.
Have you considered not using these things, then? I'm making my way through the FS skills right now. I'm not sure that I will ever actually go Jedi, but I figure that I should have the skills ready should the mood ever strike me. I'm doing it with Carbines and Dancing. Yes, it's slower, but if you really don't like grenades and buffing, why not try to earn a Jedi the way it was intended, rather than the cheap way?

Which translates to 1,000:1. Still much too high. I think that 10,000:1 may be a decent number, but even that I am unsure of.

I would love to grind Jedi in space. I think all the time I spend in space shoudl be just as good as the folks on the ground. Unlocking a second player slot is a big deal and it shouldn't be just given to ground players.
BUT
In the interests of keeping space from becoming the newest jedi grind game why not give space pilots a bonus player on same server for completing something...say all 9 factions badges?
That second account could have access to gunbaots, capital ships, and other larger vessls. Or something equally cool up in space. How cool would it be to see a player cruising by in a corvette? Or one pop out of hyperspace in a gunboat!

I would go along with this provided that the master pilot required the same number of skill points as any other master profession. That would be the only way to do it, oh and make the shipwright exp also convert.

How about we make Prestige do other things and not convert to FS
If people had something to spend there Prestige on then there would be less FS complaining.
Now Shipwright to FS exp is another issue.... since it is a ground proffesion and is basicaly just like any other crafting proffesion.
