Saitek X-45 Joystick / Throttle combo. I never leave the hangar without it. The real secret to using a joystick is to tweak the sensitivity and deadzone. About half sensitivity and almost no deadzone gives you the most control.

One of those logictech thumb ball mouse works great. Between that and the keypad I really don't do to bad. I got a mouse this past weekend though, and am slowly trying to learn it.

You and me both bud. Same joystick I used to work my way through X-Wing, TIE Fighter, XvT and XW:Alliance. Except I got the digital version now.

Never dreamt of using a mouse but might give it a go so that I can offer a fully informed opinion.

ive always been a joystick flyer, cant imagine using the mouse, joystick just gives so much more control in one place, especially this thing (saitek cyborg evo) has so many buttons some arent even used (but then,im a basics flyer, have target closest enemy, target closest NPC,weapons, and booster bound to it),steers the a-wing like a dream, onyl time i EVER use a mouse is for gunning

I have yet to find anything that beats my aging Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 1. Though, my girlfriends Saitek x52 is damned nice.

I cannot pilot with a mouse.

I started off with a mouse despising my X-45 because of the hard spring... makes it difficult to do precise shooting. Did pretty well with the mouse but not much rolling.. :S
I bought the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro and now I'm rolling and yawing at the same time
Now I use only the Extreme3dpro stick. And NO I am not intending to cut the spring on the X45. I'm happy with my simple twist the wrist yaw stick (can't stand the yawing on the x45. Who came up with the idea of yawing with buttons on the throttle???)

I used mouse, then I bought a joystick. I tried the joystick for a while but I didn't have any accuracy so I went back to mouse
