Thread: You have got to be kidding me

So, I'm doing Smugglers Alliance mission 4.3. Part of the mission involves an escort. Only problem is that half way through the already rediculously long escort, the transport I'm supposed to be following pulls up to the edge of the map and just stops moving. At this point I was already over 2 hours into the mission. I scrolled back up through my quest text, and counted up that I had already gone through 16 waves of attack fighters. I was hoping that maybe if I waited through a few more waves the transport would start moving again or else it would finish the mission, but no, after sitting around for another half an hour the transport despawns and I'm told I failed the mission.

Now, I understand that things in a game sometimes get bugged, but come on Sony. If you're going to put a 3 hour mission in a game, then it better damn well work. I know this mission worked at some point in the past, since I had already mastered Smugglers Alliance once before, but now I'm hesitant to try it again. I have better things to do than waste another three hours on a bugged mission. And speaking of escort missions, you are aware that 100% of players out there hate them, right? Its not that there's something wrong with the idea of escort missions, its just that in JTL they're implimented very poorly. First off, they are WAY too long, and secondly, if you are even a half way decent pilot, they are way to easy. For a heck of a lot of players out there, 95% of an escort mission involves staring at the tail end of the ship they're escorting.

Not that I expect any changes to be made, but if you ever get around to reworking escort missions, might I suggest that instead of giving them a fixed time length, instead set them up so that they automatically end after a certain number of attack waves, and that the faster a player is able to take out the waves the more quickly the next wave comes.

This reminds me of the escort timeout bug they patched once before, and is a pretty serious issue. Definitely needs some attention.

What happened to my friend in the last one was that he'd start the escort, and instead of it lasting for 15 minutes or so, it lasted instead of 25, at which point the escort ship jumped out, claiming that the mission "took too long," and failed him. Thankfully, they got the problem taken care of the following week. Submit a ticket. They might actually fix it like they did the last one.

I think the whole 30 minutes timer idea was plain stupid anyway.

i feel your pain....but have you tried to level the investigation line??? before mounts, bikes and player cities it would take hours to do 1 mission for crap xp. even after they put them in the game you could go through a whole evening not getting 1 successful mission cuz theywere bugged. this game has its bugs as does any software program....if there were no bugs, there would be no updates or patches for anything. the devs are aware of these problems and are trying to fix them.

this is in no way a flame so i hope it doesn't get treated as such.

30 min? thats not that long, a casual swg gamer would play what? one hour between half a hour a day? tahts enough to attempt it twice, thats pretty good. well, if you like escourts you like em, and if you hate em you hate em. there there for a reason and once you ace you don't have to do escourt missions unless you want too, there gonna be this way and be here forever, so stop wining and finish it with a few friends. and be done with it forever.
