What's important is covered in detail in the FAQ but briefly, you're interested in meat with a high OQ, PE and FL, especially OQ. Carnivore is probably what's used most in BSNs, the most commonly created additives but there's also a need for herbivore, insect, wild, fish, mollusk, etc. We don't need avian meat but we can use avian bones. We can also use high OQ scaley hide.

"Best" depends on how you plan to use it. If you are using it to grind BE, Dath carnivore is probably your best option. It takes an unbelievable volume of meat to get ot MBE, so creatures that drop a lot at once are your best goal.

If you are looking for meat that is the best you can get for your products, you can create a score of (50% X OQ) + (30% X PE) + (20% X Flavor) = score. The higher the score, the better the meat. What is acceptable depends on your server and the meat that has recently been available there.

Grinding level flora is usually fairly easy to buy, but meat tends to be a bottleneck. Critical failures were an issue when I mastered (even in practice mode), and I suspect they still are. If so, you will probably need about 20% more meat than you might estimate you would need to finish.

Different people like grinding different products. It depends on whether you have more time or more resources. If you have more time, micronutrient supplements are a good choice to start out with, since they only use two ingredients. If you have an enormous supply of resources, you will want to change what you grind every time you level in order to get the most xp per item.

But the crafting grind is only a small part of leveling BE. DNA collection and petmaking are also important. Try making pets right from the beginning. You get a small amount of XP for making pets, and petmaking is where you really learn how to be a BE.
