Correct - the original poster of the pics on the Beta board said he switched the Endor space and surface maps to make the pictures. He called it a client-side mod.

No, I did a quick search and some guy said this "Thisisthemapoftanaab,whichwasnevercompletedinSWGandstillexistingamefile" heres the link of pictures.

SWG was thinking of making a ground map were we can fly in ? interesting if its true. Shoulda been completed if it was true.

Yeah - the first picture was said to be of a Tannab ground map, and the image sure looked legit to me. But he did a swap for a space zone map to make it look like he was flying over it. So far as I know there is no atmospheric flight in JtL. Tannab may show up as a new ground area someday, though. The map looked cool.

Not true. You will notice that there is a small TIE fighter icon, which now represents the "Inside Ship Interior" status. As others have said, this was a "mod" of some game files that changed the appearance of the Endor sector into the ground Endor map.

I remember reading this post with those screens in the beta forums, the creaters said they used some client side hacking though.

Hahahahaha! I am the maker of that mod. No I simply took the Ground sector and replaced the space sector with it. And only I can see it.

Point is at the moment a gathering of 100 people engaging in combat on the ground creates enough lag to nearly kill you withourt being shot at... and you want ships to fly over head as well? I too would love that someday and I can see down the line adding perhaps Snowspeeders that can get some altitude but flying actual ships over ground just isnt going to happen.

i can see a lot of potential for this. like rebel quest that lets them protect a base from imperial attacks. and imperial quest where you attack a rebel base.
these type quest start a war with npcs and pc that can be involved with fighting on ground as well in air.
like rebels have to fight at-at and use tow cables to bring them down. and imps cover the at-at until they destroy the rebel base?
but to fly around in a planet atmosphere would be fun as well as flying in space.
will stuff like that be possible and coming soon?
This is called atmospheric flight, and no plans right now for it. Maybe in 2010

Ehhh guys do you know when you mkae threads about atmospheric flight then post screenshots of my handy work. A dev will come around and delete it. I can no longer post pics anymore cause the devs are already pissed off with me. So I shall speal about it no more.

yea editing the game files is a biiiig no no. I remember the spat of the client side mod turning melee weapons into lightsabers...
