You could find a cheap joystick for the cost of a good mouse. Nothing compairs to the joystick for piloting, but make sure you keep your mouse handy for that turret work.

Actualy I think it's about right there are alot of real life fighters that have a center consol between the legs actualy most fighters come to think of it. e.g Harrier Jump Jet all MK and GR veriants, has center console with main flight stick between legs the nozzel thrust direction and throtle control lever on side console to the left of the pilot. have a look at some other fighters.

If you /examineself while you are flying a fighter you are in a position that is the same thing as riding a mount, ie. doing the splits while standing vertically. Even thought most fighters mount their HOTAS Control Columns between the legs the pilot is still in a seated position with the legs extended to the rudder pedals. In SWG they can seperate my legs, that's fine, just have them pointed forward like in a seating position... I'm not mounting my fighter and using reins to control it.
