What would ya do in a TRek MMOG, since its just a free love utopia in Trek land anyway. Bet ya build faction points by hugging your enemies and trying to get them to do member swaps with you.
Kirk solved the vast majority of conflicts he got into violently (sometimes with phasers but most of the time with a fist-fight

Kirk did, yes. But I gotta admit, sometimes the moral plays put on in TOS were a bit blunt. Picard (though there were times he got really ticked and didn't take crap from anyone), was mainly a diplomat. And Roddenberry admits part ofhis intent in Star Trekwas to help usher in world peace.
And this just popped into mind because the show (though not copying) has a lot of classic Star Trek spirit in it...
When the heck are we going to get a Star Gate MMORPG, or for that matter... ANY Star Gate game?

Anyone who still thinks the Trek universe is full of "free love" or anything like that probably hasn't seen any of the Dominion War episodes of DS9. The Trek universe got a lot darker in the last 4 seasons of DS9.. which I'm sure many people missed because they watched a couple shows in the first or second season and wrote it off.

I fell prey to that. I really didn't like DS9 much when it first came out. And later on when it got interesting, you couldn't miss a single episode without getting utterly confused, and I just didn't have the free time anymore.

Well, you can look back to 1995 and find the genesis or snes games acclaim did that blew for the most part or you can find the gameboy and gamegear gems that won handheld puzzle game of the show. (shameless plug: didn't work on the 16bit and was the designer/producer for the good handhelds)
We got to visit both the Yuma and Spruce Goose hanger locations for the first film and collaborate.

I could see a ST mmog where there was alot of space exploration and basically player cities in space. Join a faction Klingon Romulan, etc. Get assigned to a ship with other faction members assigned to the same ship. Then you work your way up the ranks base pay for each profession on the ship. Xp similar to SWG. /request transfer if you dont fit in on your first assignment.
I would relate combat eff to % of players on board a ship doing there jobs vs npc's on ship. Powerfull planet killing ships would require larger % of players on board to function efficently. So if capin Kirk is the only player on the enterprise with a npc crew his max speed is 1% of full crew max speed same for weapons etc.
Klingons would be great for melee pvp and assasination to rise in the ranks.
Docking at starbases. Boarder disputes between factions. Random missions assigned by faction
Then eventually planets that players can land on and build structures.

Can I get that prototype cloakable Romulan Warbird with the killer plasma cannon? You won't ever come near the neutral zone again
