I don't get why people are so opposed to this idea. If you're not interested in being the lone freighter pilot why does it matter so much to you whether others will or not?
You all come up with the same argument that you could just get your friends to gun for you or yell in the starport and find some gunner, that's not the point.
First of all, it may be easy to find gunners now that jtl is still new but what about in a month or two, or even 6 months. Who's gonna want to gun for you then?
Second, where's the fun in flying around hoping your gunner hits his target or not. I wouldn't have much fun doing this, well maybe once or twice but no more than that and I doubt alot of others would either.
Third, would it totally ruin your gameplay if some slow a$$ ship has a pilot that can shoot as well? It's not like the YT1300 is an amazing combat vessle anyways. It's still a huge target so a fighter pilot should be able to take it out pretty easily.
This is a gamebreaking issue for alot of people, heck there were litterally hundreds if not thousands of posts about this in beta, if you're not interested in getting this, don't ruin it for those for whom this is a great deal. Let them have theirs and who knows, they may support you when it's your turn to ask for something.

The YT-1300 is not a fighter or cruiser vessel, it is a freighter, meaning it is meant for transporting goods and has some limited combat capability. Fathom that please.

I watched the scene the other night that you speak of just for this reason. Chewie tried to jams it transmissions and Han fired at the tie by moving this lever that was above him. You can see and hear blaster fire.
So ifthe YT-1300 isjust a freighter and not afighter then thier should be some content added that supports this. So far the only thing you can do in spaceis fight in a YT-1300 therefore it is a fighter by default.
I can see this topic going on for a very long time, thereneeds to be somesort of compromise.

Remember Millienium falcon was HEAVILY MODIFIED YT1300........ ours are not

And ours are heavy modified modeled after the Falcon. Do you think every run of the mill YT-1300 has turrets? I would say Han's was the execption and not the rule.
