A guild (or PA (Player Association)) is a group of people who form a kind of permanent group (they get their own chat channel, etc) to help eachother out. Most guilds will have atleast one of most every profession, and they tend to work together much more than people you meet out in the public.
My master architect gives very deep discounts to guild members, and will always fill guild orders before the general public.
It's kind of like a brother/sisterhood that forms in game.
Members of a guild have the quild initials displayed above their heads in < > - I.e. Venxen Rehq <AW> where AW is the initials given to my guild by the founder. When you're ready to join, you can start looking for a guild that fits your interests and ask them what the process is to join them.
Ranged support has it's uses. Warning Shot is great and suppression fire is decent.
However, if you're going to pick up Smuggler DF or BH pistols then you really don't need the ranged support line because you can use the other specials to your adavantage, doling out much more damage then the delays on the aformentioned moves will get you.
So if you're just going to Master pistoleer without any other pistol lines, hang on to at least ranged support 3 (warning shot)
Forget Pistoleer...Get your BH specials, and grab unarmed 4, then get the smuggler specials and the Launcher cert in Commando.
i used to feed my pets spices and never noticed the downer...

can spices be used as pet food? do the benefits and/or downers apply to pets as well?

I've done it twice now - both times on bloody biceps, never a helmet or chest though, d'oh!
Not 100% sure about the low end of encumberance slices, it might be 15-45, but effectiveness slices I have had as low as 11% for sure.
lately testing has shown that
- armor encumberance ranges from 20-45%
- armor effectivness 10-35% with a rare report or two of 8%
- weapons 15-35% without a doubt.
I agree with Kav 100%. All of my experiences and communications with other smugglers have shown the exact same results.
