Very cool!

I do have one question, though.

I pay by credit card... and because I prefer to control my expenses manually, I cancel my subscription every month right after I pay. Then when the little "Subscribe" message pops up again a month later, I click it and pay again.

Does this disqualify me from being considered a "vet"?

(For the record... to date, I have yet to go a full 24 hours beyond the time when my account expires before renewing)

I was happy about this until I saw one little piece of info that needs to be fixed. I have on my billing cycle 6 consecutive months of gameplay. I took a break till you guys got things fixed and have come back and was planning on staying.
I do not see why those of us who stuck with you guys in the beginning should have less right than a late comer. This needs to be fixed.
If the customers bill shows 6 months of consecutive play at any point then they qualify if their account is active at LS release. Period, the end.
We were there at day one when we couldnt even log in. Hell my account says elder. IF that doesnt make me a veteran I dont know what does!

While the ship is nice and all its not really a veteren reward is it when we are still a few months off from JTL being released and by then every man and his wookie will have one. I see this as another marketing stratergy in that it dangles a carrot in front of people that (a.) makes them stay connected to the game and (b.)guaranteesmore sales of the expansion.

I think they were more than a little worried with all the posts in the jedi/test center 2 forms of all the disgruntled jedi threatining to cancel/sell on ebay thier toons because they werent getting what they wanted from the devs in the upcoming publishes. And last but not least it gives them more time to come up with a reward, obviously they didnt have anything ready for the anniversary so some bright spark came up with the idea to offer something related to the expansion.

The Announcement:

Star Wars Galaxies is pleased to announce the first veteran reward for longtime players! Veteran players are those players who have subscribed for at least 6 consecutive months. These players will receive the deed for the multi-passenger ship model SoroSuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000 the day Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed launches. This starship model has been popularized in Star Wars fiction by Lando Calrissian's personal vessel, the Lady Luck. Non-veteran players will receive the reward once they become veteran players. Similar to the Special Edition goggles, this item will not be tradable.

That to me means that if you can keep your account from lapsing for six mounths strait then you get the Reward. I would also beleave though I could be wrong that the devs will take into account short breaks like a few days or a week or to beacuse of RL conserns. I think the 6 consecutive limit is to make it so some one who started Playing at lanuch but quit within a Mounth could not come back now and be a Vetran, also I think that any Break over a month is Leaving the game and therefor should reset your timer.

On last thing on a Positive note this also says FIRST Vet reward does this mean more stuff? I think so and if the FIRST one is this good what could the others be?

/hope_up (please don't dash them)

:EDIT:: My guess is the other reward or rewards(First impies more) will goto longer subscribers, also see how they mencend goggles in there they only came if you paid like $20 extra for the Special Edition. So yes it is kinda a money grab, but think about this where you NOT going to buyJTL when it comes out. My guess is most people here on the boards will have it on Launch Day if they havn't pre-ordered it already. Besides, they long ago told us that they will be including vetrians Rewards in JTL this is JUST the anouncement on what one of though rewards is.

I'm no power gamer and haven't logged as many hours as some due to my work schedule, but I'm happy to see that sticking with this game through its many developemental stages has payed off. However, I am saddened to see that by the requirements most SWG players will have this ship, so is it really much of a prize? How about something for those of us who have stuck by this game since for me almost the beginning(missed by a few weeks) and for others the first day? I hope that we will be rewarded for our contribution through all the rebalancing that has taken place. But if not, hey I'll take the lady luck any day.

Nice ship, the vet reward thing though... There should be other options/rewards for different kinds of subscribers. The people who will have 12 months of loyal subscribing will be getting the same as those who jump on board around this time... the people who miss a month or a day or so in resubscribing will maybe miss out on this..possibly, though they may too be loyal subscribers / veterans of the game.. really they are saying veterans are people who keep paying consequtively when they should be saying 'loyal' subscribers will get the reward...I guess they are saying that too though

Nice reward either way.

Hmmmm, 11 pages of complaints from players who have not been active for 6 consecutive billing cycles but who have nonetheless been around from the launch of the game and who will not get the veteran reward due to game card issues, billing issues, etc., , myself among them, and the best SOE could offer was "I'll ask"? Does this really mean that dozens of players, some of them probably not even out of high school, were able to pick up on this flaw within literallyminutes of reading the announcement and NO ONE at SOE was able to? I find that very funny. I applaud SOE for coming up with a neat reward for their veteran players, but given my past experience with SOE customer service and SOE's disturbing tendancy to delete any overly critical post to these forums I really don't see any substansive response coming in the near future.

Well devs I have to say, you actually surprised me with this one. Every time I heard someone gossiping about what the veteran reward might be I always just dismissed it thinking it would be something stupid or useless. I always just figured it would be something like another piece of art to stick in your house or something. Even if the thought ever crossed my mind that it might be an actual ship, the only thing I could imagine it being was a dinkly little one person tin can so small it would barely even be able to make the jump to lightspeed without falling apart.

Never would I have guessed that you would not only include a ship just for vets, but the infamous yacht used by Lando Calrissian. The ship was never a favorite of mine, but it was always something special and nice to see. It's vastly different compared to the other small fighters and medium freighters out there. It doesent have the bulkish look of corellian ship design, or the bare bones, brute force philosophy of the empire. Whenever you see that ship you instantly recognize the classic style of 70's funk and picture the advertisement of Lando holding a 40'. If there is one thing that could make this ship perfect in JTL, it would be a set of fuzzy dice you can hang from cockpit windshield.

I do have to say though that I am a bit concerned about what you consider a "veteran" in game. I know quite a few people (including myself) that for whatever reason had to cancel for at least a day or two in the last six months, and will probably have to cancel again before JTLS comes out. I know there was at least once or twice that I wasn't sure if I would have the cash in the bank to pay the bills as well as my SWG subscription, so I had to cancel for a day or two to make sure I didn't get any overdraft charges while I waited for my next check.

I urge you to reconsider the 6 monthconsecutive subscription qualification, and instead make it 6 months total. If you have paid and played for 6 months, even if they werent completely back to back, you should be considered a veteran. This would make it fair on everyone without penalizing those of us who had to cancel for whatever reasons even if that cancellation was only for a day or two just to make sure that a check cleared or to cycle the payments on a credit card.

Great choice on the ship though. Most impressive.

Very nice ship. Great idea and appreciate it.

For all the others out there complaining about the "I quit for a month" scenario.....good god...just play the game for 6 months straight and u get the ship. If that means 2 months after launch of JTL then oh well. Be happy you didnt get a broken datapad!

Sometimes I wonder if people complain just because they have nothing better to do with their lives.
