i don't give a damn, wasn't bragging
the only ones who dont care are those who have 0 mass components (which are going away)
a much worse game
who catches someone in a deathroll first does matter, that is skill, and it's how it is in r/l, however, in rl there aren't npc's who arebased on COMPLETELY different physics
nothing I don't already know, reading doesn't change the fact that pvp and pve in JtL is a joke compared to xwing vs tie fighter

Do you realize that the game engine for X vs T was almost5 years old by the time it was released?
it was the same one that they used to make Secret Weaponsof the Luftwafe (sp), right?
well, that makes it even more amazing...what, now 13 years old, and its still more playable than JtL?

No its not, the game engine has been up dated many times.
Odds are there is a lot more of that game engine in JTL then you realize but they are differant games and really should not be compared to each other.
Heh...
I've played every single Star Wars starfighter game that's came out. You hold XvT up as the shining example of PvP? Try again.
In most XvT PvP, the vast majority of good Rebel pilots I knew picked the TIE Interceptor to fly. Why? It was the best ship.
Not to mention that if you managed to get four or more pilots in the same combat zone, it was laggy as hell.
Whereas in JtL if you set things up, you can easily have twenty or thirty pilots duking it out with far less lag than you ever got in XvT.
while I agree the art and system performance in JtL are far superior, however, the core gameplay is not, that's my whole point.
as far as the interceptor goes, ill take my awing any day ![]()

My oppressor has shields as strong as the tier 5 ships I fly against, guns comparable as well.
I think part of your problem with JTL is you want the game to be just like X vs T which with it being tied into a MMORPG with the components being made by players can never happen.
You might not like the idea your A wing can be ran down by a Tie advance or Tie interceptor with a better engine then you have but thats part of the game because this is not X wing vs Tie.
You want balance in player ships and npc ships (to be more specific you want things to be like X vs Tie) but that takes away from the flavor of JTL.
We have the ablity to make the ships in this game fit our playing style and not the other way around like in X vs Tie.
If all the ships in the game were in a set mold what would be the point of SW on the ground?
Also X vs T did not have a level or tier system for players which this does.
I like JTL overall, its not X vs T but even that gameI never really saw as being that great of a space sim. but it was the only Star Wars one out there.
Are you going to complain about the missile packs not being exactly the same when made by differant SW's?

I loved X-Wing, Tie Fighter, XvT and XWA, they were really great games .. though, I also like JTL !
I understand why the original post complains about a few things, but really it is up to use to make it better. I can make the Rebel A-Wing the fastst ship when I place a high level overdrive engine in it, but of course that leave little room for other powerful weapons (just like in the original A-Wing). Same for my Tie Interceptor, if I do not add shields and counter measures etc it can be very close to the original.
Now, of course they both would not work very well as universal ship for a single pilot, but for large groups (as Imperial TIE would normally be) they would work very well.
Especially Imperial, but also several Rebel ships were desgined for a specific role in combat and most of them were not desgined as a universal fighter. The JTL system allows playser to change that a bit by using varius components. I like this feature, though I actually started to also equip some ships the way the should be and they work quite well this way.
JTL, is a different game, for different players in a very different time and setting. Based on those merits alone, the game is awesome. I wouldn't change JTL into the old Star Wars Space Sims anymore then I would change those old sims into JTL. Nothing can drag me away from SWG and JTL, except for one thing, which I doubt will come to pass...
A Mechwarrior MMORPG that is built much like SWG/JTL is, in that there are ground based toon actions to do (Combat, a Massive and Deep Crafting System), Battlemech combat (Similar to the old Mechwarrior Sims) that includes ground troops and also space combat with Jumpships, dropships and fighters...
Technically, it might not be possible, but if it was, I would be all over it in a heartbeat, SWG would have to add dozens of planets and a ton of new, interesting and unique content pieces in order for me to stay if such a thing were to be brought to life.
I'd buy that in a second!

I don't know if you were responding to my post, but I said Mechwarrior, not Planetside with Star Wars Stuff. If you are unfamiliar with Mechwarrior, look it up.
Arguably, the background history and story to the Mechwarrior universe is just as deep as the backstory to Star Wars.
