It's quite simple, really. If you don't like the twitch-based game, use the ticket terminal instead of the starship terminal.

There does need to be a PVP damage reduction.

Considering you're a master and can have the best crafted components

Mark V Shield = 1800-2000 HP

Mark V Armor = 1300-1500 HP

so combined you have 3500 hp on the front and 3500 hp on the back before components and Chassist start to take damage

Experimental Blaster does 1800-3500dmg per shot at about 50% reduction to shields and armor (Ion does up to 80% to shields, and Disruptor 80% to armor)

So if an Xwing has 2 blasters, he's doing 3600-7000 damge per shot, if both are blasters its about 1800-3500 actuall damage, one max hit and your entire shield and armor are gone, second hit hits for full damage (no reduction) and you're toast.

Either Shields need to be seriously beefed up, or a PVP damage reduction needs to be implemented

Well, the problem is that during beta the devs decided to seriously nerf shields into the ground. I remember about a month ago when I was a master starfighter engineer (the extra shipwright profession that got removed) I could build experimental shields which had around 9000 points of protection front and back as well as a high regeneration rate. Now the best you can make I believe is around 4000 or 5000 points with a really low regeneration rate.

The weapons have remained pretty much the same, but now we have powerful weapons with weak shields. All this means is that PVP is incredibly short where the winner is usually always the first one to shoot.

The problem isn't seprating the tastes of games players..but more the starwars fans from gamesplayers whoi are playing the next best thing.

For starwars fans...mostly couldn't playa starwars game for long with out even a hint of a space game promised.

Styler...

But see that’s the point. It seem that Developers aren't trying to take the SW fans, or the MMORPG fans into account they are trying to branch out by snagging the Planetside/FPS crowd., and that crowd is even more fickle thna the powergaming Crowd that dominates the Ill fated Jedi in this game. But like many issues with SWG the deed is done, and we will have to suffer through many a revamp on a count of it, and in the end there will still be a ton of griping on all sides.

Now Is JTLS a crappy add on? Nope it is a very good add on, in fact it rocks, but my original point was the SWG developers made a very controversial bedwhen they decided to go Twitch as they will always have a large portion of the community complaining about either High ping or low Ping issues, that my friends is a natural fact.

And to the gentleman who basically said if I didn't like it hop a Starship...you canenjoy a game and still have issues with it. That’s what separates the logical players from the rabid fanbois.

This is exactly what I'm saying Aren. PvP isn't fun with just 2 hits. Look at all the other successful space sims. I really hope the devs balance things out before people reach master pilot...

Actually, you couldn't be more wrong. The devs didn't make JTL twitch to appeas the FPS gamers, they did it to create a true Star Wars space experience. In the movies every time someone was in space it was always full of heated action, dogfights with fighters ducking and weaving, rolling through enemy fire and around asteroids. The only way you can truly capture this kind of experience is to make it a twitch game. If JTL was like the ground game where you simply point and click to have your ship automatically fly over and blast another ship while spamming specials, it would be a very dull and boring space experience. It would just be another clone of EVE or E&B.

The devs have repeatedly stated from the very start that they wanted to make JTL a twitch combat expansion because that's the best way that they could capture the true dogfighting action seen in the movies.

I'm concerned tooo, but I need more experience at PvP in space. Of course, I see no fun in turning PvP into a "Lower Ping Wins" battle (like many FPS), so I guess Devs will tweak it.

I myself is glad to see some "shooter" aspects in the game. I have nothing against the folks who enjoy the ground combat system, but I myself would prefer my skill be responsible for victory or defeat as opposed to "dice rolls". I don't play the ground PvP at all because of that very reason.

Sure lag/dial up players, will have an effect on the space combat. But that's typical of every shooter I've ever played. In short, I'm stoked to see my two favorite types of games merged into one.

BTW, MMORPG does not mean strictly dice roll combat. WWIIOL is also highly dependand on the wits of the player as well.
