another question.

If you have two or more guilds that have declared WAR with each other. Will they be able to attack the other guilds like they normally would?

I'm trying to set up this huge battle on my server, but if i can't get everyone to be able to target the others, then it'd be pretty moot.

isn't that kinda what air/space combat is? Things change a bit with higher numbers (IE: If people are circling and you're not noticed you can pull out to range and just kinda missile a guy or two). In fact, missiles themselves change combat a bit. But with just guns, yeah, things get a bit WW II-ish, which most of us dig. The new POB ships add some new elements though.

PvP in space is perhaps a little less fastpaced than I would like... IMO we need lower PYR multipliers on allchassis (in particular the RoTW)as well as lower speed multipliers on...then missiles should have a longer range and a set minimum range, and a great deal lower damage

in other words... make missiles more of a long range tactical weapon... Remove the 5 minutes circling eachother fights... Decrease mass on JSF/B22/Hvys/Vaksai..

Redo the component system so each class of ship (interceptor, superiority fighters, multirole ships, bombers, POBs etc) have its own class of components, for example an TIE Interceptor would only be able to carryinterceptor weapons(something along the lines of a lvl 6 or 7 gun), where and XWing could carry7 or 8 guns(andBW 10s).... This way the ships can be made so they fit in certain roles, interceptors fast but light damage/protection and bombers high damage protection and damage/low speed

Ofcourse this would make all my uber components not so uber lol.... I doubt it will happen tho

I just miss the way XWing vs TIE worked... You had a set in stone performance sheet for each ship which you could modify a little but (redirect engine energy to guns or gun energy to shields)... IMO there just isnt balance today as it is... A BWing should be a powerful piece of equipment... Not just a thing to point fingers of and laugh when people fly them in PvP

I think the B-Wing will look pretty terrifying from the inside of the new POB setups...

And further, ships are being specialized now. Pretty limited to a few top-notch pilots (leaph, kayl, etc) but they're cramming L8/L10 engines into A-Wings sacrificing firepower and protection. One of the main attractions of JTL for me is the fact that you're only limited by mass on a chassis. B-Wing would suck if e.g. you couldn't mount an engine higher then L6 'cause it's a "bomber".

I'd rather stay away from asking for a full space CU/overhaul.

ok just recently started trying this out... and i dont quite get it...

all it seems to be is ppl turning as fast as they can in circles trying to get off a stray shot... :S

any tips or pointers on how to make it at least some sort of fun challenge would be appreciated

This is the way PvP has evolved. Jousting, unless you are quick and lucky, is normally deemed a bad thing. As you don't know what the other guy is packing. It's like being in a Western shootout, both normally end up dead, or if you are lucky, you may manage to get a shot off before the other guy, and dodge his fire. After the initial pass, it then turns into a furball. The trend is for high PYR on engines, to give the pilot more chance of evading your opponents blaster fire. There was a trend where people had faster engines, but on engaging a higher PYR where they ended up dead, people realised that they neded to fight fire with fire, thus switching to a higher PYR engine.

With the advent of the new POB's, we may see a new trend, to higher shields and armour, thus people will have to sacrifice either firepower, or engine mass to combat these Leviathans. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks/months to PvP.

I'm an avid Chimaerian PvPer, and I'm always looking for a challenge. I've yet to see an elite ImpPOB in DS, but I'm certainly looking forward to the encounter. it may mean switching to my heavy X-Wing in order to dent those massive shields, or, I may be able to skoot round it in my JSF jabbing away, and dodging those uber Elite weapons and missiles.

Lol yeh they will be. In fact, the diagrams aren't so much detailed starship pictures than '3d' blocks and arrows with labelled vectors. I'm keeping it neat and easy to understand.

I like pvp in space. I actually enjoy the physics and how JTLS is over any other starship arcadey sim I ever played. Mainly because I seem to be rather good at this one but /shrug I just love the way everything handles. There are a lot of things I'd change however. I mean, I would like to see heavier bomber style ships coming into their own, I won't lie and say I think every ship is balanced against each other but with the new POB gear, I think it's opened up a lot of opportunites for pvp in space and has definitly opened up the door to those who havnt the time to set up a ship for pvp as a decent pob can now be acquired with minimum hassle.

I think it is fast paced enough. As for spinning around in circles...yeh it happens a lot but not all the time. I mean, you could never say it just fell down to luck with aiming for your opponent otherwise I wouldn't be winning as consistently as I do. The law of averages would prevent that from happening. You learn to appreciate pvp and look at it from a tactical point of view after you've been 'hurt' a lot. When you learn how to handle and set up a ship which reflects your strong points as a pilot -thats- when it gets interesting.

In fact, I'm still in the midst of a project I've been working on for a while now which addresses certain starfighter strategies and a few general points of common sense with diagrams. It's taking a while though because I've just added some prospective ideas for pobs and dealing with pobs in pvp. It also covers 'dealing with missile boats', 'dealing with speed' and 'dealing with the guy who seems to be outturning me'.

My personal favourite lesson though which will come at the end of the topic (and is my most commonmistake) is 'Don't get complacent or you'll look stoopid '

Ok. Erm. I think the thing with pvp is patience. Patience is the biggest fact imo. Too many peopel want an easy ride, to treat it like a true arcade where you don't need much conscoius thought but the truth is..you do need it to succeed.
