Not in online flight sims.

Try to simply do any of that and you will get pwned by players doing complex immelmens, yo yos, etc.

JTL requires very little skill. Theres some with gunnery but thats about it. Play any decent flight sim like WWIIOL or Warbirds and you will find it will take a good year or two to be able to compete with the top level players.

JTL is more about outfitting your ship with uber parts, cutting ships off in turns/loops, and using specials at the right times.

Its interesting but simplistic at the same time.

Yeah you are right, Im mostly a vet of space sims (All hail Freespace!), but yes most games do require more skills than this. This is more arcadey, like Rogue Squadron games

I always prefered "Freelancer".........

I like Freelancer as well, but Freespace 1 and 2 are better IMHO

Can't say I've played them, but nothing beats WingCommander.........

Well I will admit one thing. The fight model does suck. I don't think starfighters should be able to yaw almost exactly the same as the way they pitch. Unfortunately space combat is mostly follow the little yellow dot, and good luck at outmanuvering a missile. I guess I was expecting Ace Combat 4 in space, but other than that I do like JTL. Its also still in its infantcy so I expect many changes in the future. I also have hope for the fight model. O and ni case ho haven't noticed, there are escort and what I like to call close air support missions where you go after capitol ships. Ohh, and the PS2 top gun game is way worse than JTL. JTL just in't as good as AC4, thats all.

If you can actually keep up with an NPC ship, they do actually try and jink out of your line of fire. Not much, but Im only fighting tier two ships right now, so Im assuming they will do it more later. I looted a 72.7 speed engine with pitch/yaw/roll speed at 59-62(level 4), and the only thing that still flies in circles is a Nym's Fighter Z-95. With the Y-Wing, X-Wing or privateer ships, I can drop in neatly on their six with a short burst of booster energy, and then they jink and roll to try and escape.....they never do
