This is a big releif, i personaly 'dislike' the imperial ships, in my opinoin they all look the same. I will probly go Privateer now.

Who knows, maybe there will be "battlefield"-like areas in space (that work) that will allow you to decide which side you want to fight on and let you go out there and beat on whichever side you want to.

that would be too smart of SOE to implement....dumb it down a bit

what's more likley is that you cant even fire at them or more or less enter the "battlefield"

There are areas like that in JTL, the Kassel (SPL?)run is one I think. These are areas where if you venture into then anyone can attack you, regardless of faction. They are meant to be, for the most part, unrestricted PvP areas where anyone can attack anyone else flyingthrough them.

It's not a factionless free for all like you make it sound. I can't elaborate until next week. I can't even figure out how to word one of my (you have to read into it) riddlesto figure out what I'm saying. Not all privateers are lawless though.

Question the envy and the shortcomings of anyoneone who's chosen a combat profession with a weapon longer then their forearm.

Sorry if im mistaken since I'm not in beta but I thought that you could be imperial and be a privateer and still fight rebels in space.

No.

You can only be an Imperial pilot. Or Rebel pilot. Or Privateer. No combination thereof. And you can only fly ships that you are certified for in your profession.

umm thats not what he said. He said that he thought that if he was a imperial on the ground and a privateer pilot he can go overt to fight rebel players in space whilest using the privateer ships which I'm pretty sure is possible.

And like he said no you can't. You have to become or "join" a pilot faction through a pilot recruiter and can only fight against enemies of that faction in space. So if you are an imperial on the ground and a Privateer in space then no you would not be able to engage Rebel pilots. You would actually have to give up your privateer pilot faction and go the thr Imperial pilot recruiter and join, then you would be able to engage rebels in space.

The ground based faction and the spaced based faction, for all intents and purposes, is not linked. Your ground based faction has no effect on you spaced based faction. They are seperate (at least the last time I played JTL beta). That was and still is my biggest complaint about JTL. IMHO you should have to be a faction member on the ground before you can become a factioned pilot and your choice of pilot faction should be based solely on your ground faction. In other words if your a rebel on the ground then you can only be a rebel pilot or privateer pilot, an imperial can only be a Imp or privateer pilot. I also think that your space kills should also count in your faction points in both space and ground games.

IMHO JTL should seem more seamless with the ground game. After all it is an "expansion" meaning to expand upon the original. For me it feels like I am playing two entirely seperate games based on the same premise and not and expansion of the original.

you sure about that. for one thing, if you watch the trailers, they show a YT-1300 fighting tie-fighters. NOw if the YT-1300 is a neutral craft how do you explaign that.

I hope that is correct. I am a rebel, but I plan on being a privateer because I love the hutt fighters. I will be a little dissapointed if I can't attack Imps... but not heartbroken by any means.

I agree with both of you. I am a Imperial and dislike the ships. If i were rebel i would love to fly the rebel ships. I hope this is correct.
