If you hit G then drag all blasters/cannons int group 1 when you hold trigger (left mouse) they will all fire but if they are not the same fire rate the fire will be staggered,
Easiest way to see this is get a ship with 2 weapons install 1 red blaster and 1 green blaster with different weapon speeds. Now hold trigger down you will see the red and green bolts alternate firing and every 3-6 shots or so both will fire at same time.
