Thread: Droid Commands: Worst Idea, Ever.

It is true.

The current System of using Droid Commands from all Factions makes the Pilot Life way too easy (in my Opinion).

I have Masterd the Reb Pilot without ANY Droid Command (i simply doesnt knew, that i can use the commands of the Ips and Privateers).

Me and my Buddies had a lot of Work and even Fun, to manage the harder tier 3 and 4 Missions.

Now, with my second Char, i am on the way to Master Pilot (privateer) and with the Droid Programs iam able to solo all Missions until the last Master Mission.

The Energy Management System in the X-Wing Games is nearly perfect.

If i reinforce my Shields, i must drain Engine Power or Weapon Power.

It's like it should be in JTL, too.

You brought up PvP in space with droid commands, it makes no difference if you use commands or not, oh sure you might survive for 1 more shot, but is it really that much more worth it?

Only thing I see playing a big factor is gun power, Rebels clearly have much more guns to be outfitted than Imperials can do. Dont give me that Imps have smaller ship baloney. The smallest of our ships can barely hold what 1 gun?

So it's just a tad unbalanced in that factor.

If they maybe switched the Aggressor, and Bomber instead of having 2 guns and 3 ord to having 3 guns and 2 ord, then it would be better.

Hmm? No? Yes?

We can arrange an agreement.

I think that Imps don't have the fire power for a reason. They should always out number rebels, they are mass produced, so why waste money on weapons and shields when you can afford to loose a couple?

Woe be unto thee who post a contraversial thread.

Admitidly i think i should have toned down the wording into the subject title.

Not everyone has the same base of experience upon which they derive their conclusions, so.. ya this i find intresting. The fact that theres a 1 star bandit targeting me in specifc tells me that for some, its a passionate topic. I just wish they'd come out and say why, in a rational way. Overall i find the difference of opinion facinating.

*shrug* board was too slow anyway, someone needed to post something.

I just found out recently that the Pilot professions could trade Droid Command Chips with each other. I could'nt believe it. I mean damn isnt that pretty much the same as a Rifleman trading Headshot to a Carbineer forKnockdown? It just seems so silly. I mean here I was a struggling new Pilot working with what I had but now that im almost Ace I learn that I could use all the Rebel an Freelancer stuff too.

I have to agree. I think ive used 1 droid command, and never again. They dont seem worth it. And the idea that rebels can program it one way, and Imps another is complete nonsence! If it can be done, then everyone should be able to do it. Its a computer program, so if you dont know yourself, im pritty sure you could program it yourself.

Personally, I am a big fan of X-wing alliance etc games, with simple things like moving the shields, auto gunners and adjusting the qty of power going to whatever devices. To be honest, in a real world situation, you would be stupid NOT to adjust your power distribution!

I really think the devs should take a look at X-wing alliance, simply because this little items make the space experiance much more 'customised' to allow players to react differently to different combat situations. You cant argue about balance if everyone is allowed to do it.

I agree with half of what your saying but to some degree i like droid commands. Being a huge star wars fan and having all older Space sims (starwars and non-starwars) i love the energy re-direct way of playing (x-wing series of games), so yes we should be able to re-direct energy form one of the three power system to one of the other (shields, weapons and engines) but then driod commands can still be used at the same time. for example lukes attack run on deathstar 1. he re-directs his shields, but when he gets damaged R2 does a patch job on his x-wing to help him till he lands. So IMO i think a there should be some way to get the two modes of playing to work toegether.

PS i think the energy system isn't in JTL because it wasn't coded by LucasArts like the x-wing games

I dont think Imperials get multiple guns on our ships because we can use Bomberstrike. An that's a decent skill at higher levels. As far as PvP goes though yeah it kind of works against the Empire pretty bad since PvP is over in two or three shots. But as for the issue of Droid Commands I dont care if someone wants to one star me. No amount of one stars will make Rebels/Imperials trading programs like Baseball cards make sense. I mean seriously I can just see Luke Skywalker talking to Darth Vader when they meet at Bespin.

Luke Skywalker:"Hey before we duel you want to trade Weapon Overload chips for some Shield Reinforcment?"

Darth Vader: "Boy I thought you would never ask!"

Han Solo: "Hey I have some spare Reactor Overload chips too."

Luke Skywalker: "I thought you were frozen in Carbonite?"

Han Solo: "Lighten up kid its just a joke."

Darth Vader: "Hit TRADE!"

I almost spit my drink through my nose when I read your dialog lol.

With tier 4 ships and up we do ge multiple weapons. I agree with your point that /bstrike hurts us in the long run in regards to PvP. It's very useful in PvE, but if that is the balance point in restricting the firepower available on our ships then it ends up harming our pilots in the overall picture. I've only played an Imperial pilot. I just started freelance with my alt but I haven't got past the few missions so far, so I don't know what kind of firepower Rebels and Freelancers are packing at higher levels. This argument doesn't bother me so much right now, but if the devs ever decide to reduce damage in PvP then this becomes a much bigger issue if the other factions have more weapon slots available to them on their ships. Droid programs making it so a pilot can spam fire every weapon system on their ship takes alot of the skill out of the game IMHO. Spray and pray is stupid when you only have to land one to three solid shots on an opponent. As far as getting access to another factions droid programs... sounds like a good thing for smugglers.

"Basically, once you see the inner workings of the Dev team you realize their game model is really just grind and stall. Make the players grind and grind so they keep paying and when there are problems stall stall stall so they keep paying waiting for fixes. Really...all the cores that quit recently are the ones that have figured this out."

There's a lot of game mechanics in SWG (and JTL) that don't make sense when you compare them to the movies or any of the books.

For instance, is there any real reason (other than game mechanics) as to why a Pilot can't fly another faction's ship? Every ship out there has the same controls: throttle, pitch, yaw, and roll.
