The Oppressors were also called "Clutch" in...mmm the X-Wing series I think, due to the look of a Krayt claw clutching an eyeball.
If I remember correctly, Oppressors were maded for the game so they aren't clutches. Clutches were watered down versions of Defenders that the Empire came up with when they realized the regular production model of the Defender was going to be too expensive to mass produce.

If I remember correctly, I think they were uglies. They had a regular TIE cockpit, but the tines looked like half of an Interceptor's solar panel. This would make sense for the placement of the ion cannon.

Lol I was just going to look this up in the same book. Luckily I checked the thread and you had already done so, saved me from wasting time

I brought this up right before JTL came out, but not wanting to a) search for and b) necro my own thread, I thought I'd start a new one.
Pilot slang. We don't see it in the films, but in EU, its there all the time. Most applicably is the Rebel pilot slang names for TIEs and Imperial craft. We have:
Eyeballs (TIE Fighters)
Squints (TIE Interceptors)
Dupes (TIE Bombers)
Brights (TIE Advanced/Avenger)
Lambs (Lambda Shuttle)
Sents (Sentinel Landing Craft)
Impstar (Imperator Star Destroyer)
Vicstar (Victory Star Destroyer)
There are also a number of names that pop up in EU for Rebel craft. What I was wondering is, what would the Rebels call the new ships? All I can come up with is "Stares" for the Oppressors, and "Glares" for the Aggressors...but they sound very similar, so if you're gonna be saying them over the radio, you might create confusion. I also thought they might shorten Decimator to "Mates", to go with the Sentinel and Lambda's abbreviations.
Any alternate suggestions? Does anyone know what the Imperial pilots called Rebel craft? (I think it was mentioned a few times) How about Rebel slang for the Hutt and the Black Sun Fighters? I have Kicks, Icks and Ricks, but again, they sound very similar...plus they all could be confused with Vicstars, which would put the fear of god into any pilot who heard half a dozen of them were approaching.
Anyway yeah. Suggest/discuss away, peeps!

I'm not sure my Imperial name for A-Wings can be said in polite company.
I don't know about official slang, but most ship names are just shortened. I hear people refer to "X's" and "Y's" all the time. You have Nova's, YT's, Deci's, STD or ISD (Star Destroyer).
You also have groundslang for pilots. "Blackbarred" for when you land with lots of wounds. Erm, that's the only thing I can think of at the moment, but I know there's others.

For freelance ships I hear dunes or duneys, kimos, and for the black sun ships just the first letter of the ship, r k or i followed by a random string of x's y's and k's. Thats usually followed by a 'bless you'.
Also slang is the clock system of targets.. 'watch your six' 'bogies at 10' etc
Amoung the people I fly with I also hear 'jumping' for going to hyperspace in general and 'jumping out' for going to hyperspace while under fire.

Any particular reason why?
