No I think you misunderstood what he said. He said that you'd have to power down your shields in order for your weapons to fire, I guess you could get really technical and say that you could still fire them but all they'd do is bounce back and damage you, but I'm not getting into that.
Once you decided to turn the shields back on, there'd be a delay where you'd be vulnerable but unable to fire. Once that time delay completed, there'd probably be another time delay (like 5 min). Before you could power down the shields and power up the weapons. You'd get a system message that'd say"Your Reactor Coreis be unable to take the power fluctuations as it channels power from shields to weapons for the next ." or something like that.

but i did get it. what is proposed is basically additional coding you would have to work with. I guess they can modify it so that the vet ship can fire AND still be invulnerable... but that would take time away from coding that would be more instrumental... like balancing the rest of the ships. I mean, it can't be as powerful as the rest of the ships right now... it is a luxury yacht after all. Sure lando modified his, but even then it was still weak compared to the falcon and was really wasn't built for a fight. Its like asking the devs to add another version of a CDEF pistol. Sure, it would be cool, but who would use it?
Besides... how fun would it be to fly through space... get shot at by a yacht and when you start fighting back... someone flips the switch... oh you can put a delay in... but what is an acceptable delay? 10 seconds? 30 seconds? 10 minutes? if the yacht pilot is good they can run hit and runs on unsuspecting targets and escape relatively unscathed.
No, not a good idea. Its a yacht. A pleasure craft, if you don't want it or if you want another ship more... delete it.
