A funny thing happened when I was trying to help a friend with XP. I disabled Tier 5 gunboats in Kessel for him, but when he finished them off, he didn't get the 33500 XP for the kill. Weird.

You need the million XP for each tier 4 mission. Only tier 3 gave you a free pass.

No... incorrect. For Tier 4 boxes you need 1 million XP per box. After you train in the box you are given a mission. You can not train in the next box until you have completed this mission. Tier 3 and Master's Box are the only Tier's where you are granted advancement based on completion of missions (ie. Tier 3, long missions - complete them for training regardless of XP, Master - Kill 30 in Kessel, destroy Corvette)

Tier IV missions DO require the four million XP, but it's not that hard.

I got JTL 8 days late (due to a problem with my "pre-order"), did the pilot missions in 6 days, and ended up with 2.3 million extra XP left over before finding a group to do the corvette.

Since then, I've accumulated 41.6 million prestige (same as XP, but post ace). I don't poewrgame, spend 3 hours or less per day (more on weekends perhaps) and got distracted by an obscession for trying to loot power crystals from Nighsisters (killed 600, looted about 8 LOL). Also keep getting slowed down in space by village quests (I helped about 10 people to do the Phase III quest).

The point is that I don't "grind" in space, I mostly get the XP from helping others to do their tier missions or ace missions, I don't spend even the majority of my time in space, and I don't grind many hours per day online. The XP can go very quickly (one million XP for a solo-completed Blacksun Tier IV mission), and isn't that large a hurtle to getting ace.

Try to keep it fun, enjoy the ride (and the loot). It will happen and you'll feel a sense of accomplishment when you finish and know that it didn't just take a couple of hours to fill all of the boxes.

Now, if ONLY they'd give something for these prestige....Space ranks? Conversion at the Village? Why does it cap so high when only 30k is needed to get into deepspace?

If there won't be another use for prestige, then why only 30k to gain access? That is about 5 minutes in Kessel (three Tier V aggressors with "change" left over) or one wave of a blacksun tier mission. Far too easy to make Deep Space any sort of "reward". Any player can go at any time with just a few minutes of kills...
