Thread: Anyone else having this problem?

Whenever I succeed in opening a locked container it disappears from my inventory, however when I fail to open it the thing stays there.


As if it wasn't A.) hard enough to find people that have containers, B.) succeed over 50% of the time, but now I can't even give people their stupid containers back with worthless contents!


Who else is having this problem?

Make sure the container is not "within a container". Move it to the top level of your inventory and slice it from there. It seems that throughout the game, there are many things that will fail if done within more than one container.


Slicing in a house causes the container to disappear. Slicing from within a backpack, cargo pocket, etc. also causes the containers to disappear. Items seem to disappear from your inventory if traded from within a backpack or cargo pocket. I haven't tried crafting from within a container but I would imagine that is a little buggy also.


If this is not the case with you, it may be some other bug.

Shadowfire experienced its first resource shift the other day. Ever since the shift, I have a serious problem with my crafting. Whether with just my tool or with a station, I don't get a reading on my experimental durability. The percent sign is there, but nothing else (not even the words experimental durability). If I'm standing at a station, whether my own personal one or the public ones, I don't get the experiment option. This is only with the Clothing and Armor tool and station. My weapon, droid and generic item station and tools seem to work just fine.

Well, if you're talking about clothing, that's because they removed the Duribility rating from clothing in yesterday's patch. (since clothing doesn't decay anyway)

Recently I've been having a problem with creatures I'm fighting disappearing or dying on me without giving any exp. These are large creatures I'm soloing and it takes awhile to kill one, yet sometimes they are just disappearing entirely just before the final shot, or they die and I receive no exp and cannot harvest their bodies, even though i'm only40-60m from them as they die. No other players are around in the area to make me think the are stealing the kills... plus it is now happening too often to be anything but a bug.


I've considered the idea it may be due to the recent update of maskscent not causing agros when outside of 40m when breaking as my maskscent is no longer on after this happens (although I can't say for sure if this is happening everytime).


If anyone else is having the same problem please reply and say what you think causes it.

This happens to me sometimes. There are two events that I believe cause this:



  1. The lair/spawn depops or unspawns. This happens on a timer. Spawn points and lairs only exist in the world for a set amount of time. Once that time is up, the spawn and all creatures from it disappear... including the one you are fighting.

  2. I have noticed that If I am in for a very long and drawn out fight, it may take me far from the creatures spawn point. I believe that once a creature gets so far from its original spawn location it will repop back at its lair with full health. This has happened to me a couple times when soloing juvi canyon krayts, a battle that can range many many meters and take upwards to 25 minutes. Very disappointing when the beast is nearly dead and it decides to repop...

There may be other factors to these two events that I am unaware of. There may also be other reasons that I have yet to encounter for a creature to despawn.

I've had creatures vanish on me during combat.


Specifically I had two spitting rawls vanish on me while I was fighting them.


My suspicion is the server incorrectlydespawned them before their time...


I have no idea why it occurs... That is something for the developers to determine.

My husband's character (a CH/Pistoleer) and I (Ranger/Pistoleer) were killing some Mountain squills on Tatooine and this was happening with almost every single one. But another thing that was happening was that our pets kept disappearing/auto-storing over and over and over too. Since this rarely/never happens to me on Talus, I suspect that it is a server-specific problem. I doubt it has anything to do with Maskscent.

I also think that if you wander too far from the lair during battle, the creature "poofs" and returns to the lair, totally healthy. Could be what has happened to you. I have had it happen and wasn't using maskscent at the time.


I try to move in a circle with the lair as my center, never going really all that far from the lair, but covering a decent amount of ground. Just as a guess, I think 500m is about the limit, seems to me when I get beyond that limit, or actually the creature does...pop goes the weasel, try again bucko. Most aggravating.

I've had this happen to me while trying to tame a Mynock that I pulled a bit to far from it's nest. Apparently if you lead something too far from it's latr/nest for too long it either despawns or pops back up at its lair/nest with full HAM.

It looks like this is a common problem because I too have the same experiences. While fighting seething bols on dant, I tend to warning shot to give me some space and then start the process of weeding them out. often when i am killing the lair for the final push, the bol decides to pop up at zero meters and then proceed to chew on my head for a while.
The only thing that i can think of to solve this is to get better at my pistol skills and try to kill them faster...ah well. The devs should know about this

I think it has to do with how far away you are from the lair, it happens to me often. Happens even more so when I'm a far distance from the lair fighting a critter, then the critter turns around and starts to run away from me, once it gets about 30-40m it disappears, then it's back to full strength when I go back to it's spawn/lair point.

I too have had creatures disappear during a fight, but you mentioned an additional issue... that sometimes you don't get XP and can't harvest. That's happened to me also. It seems to occur if I am using a pet, and it gets the finishing strike on the target. Another instance is if I get incapped, and then the target dies from a bleedshot while I'm out. In both cases, it's intermittent... sometimes I can harvest, other times(not too often though) I can't.
