Primarly because in many scense of the movies, they were equiped with them. But not only just helmets, full on uniforms, with their own insignia. If the alliance can afford to uniformly equip their troops on many types of enviorments (snow or wooodlands for example), i find it hard to beleive they couldnt equip their fighter pilots with the proper personal protective equipment to do their jobs.

if rebel's are for all races why cant my ithorian have a new hat? and the chefs hat note im up for that the ith chef hat looks funny lol.

Why can't Twi'leks, Rodians, Bothans and Trandosians wear the current Rebel Ace helmet?

Rebel and Privateer helmets are going to be wearable by everyone but Wookies and Ithorians in 11.3.

P.S. I'm asking that Wookies and Iths get something different to wear so that they can have a spiffy Ace reward too, but so far there's no word on whether or not that'll happen in the near future.
