They took all decay and damage out of PVP, what are ya trying to do put the shipwrites outta business. Solution: don't get blowed up.....run if you have to, you can allways do it again.

They took the decay and damage out of PvP in DEEP SPACE, not in the other sectors. They ALSO made Deep Space a decay-free repair station - enter, then leave - no decay whatsoever.
Also, armor is a good thing. I use REed segments on my Advanced. In a TIE if you use no armor, the low-level components on the ship are going to get taken out by splash damage in PvP OR PvE pretty damned quickly - thus, the armor gives you a BIT more protection and could mean the difference between being disabled or still being mobile and able to escape.

I rarely get armor damage at all in PvE, only if I get too cocky in Kessel. In PvP... well, better to lose armor and survive than to get blown up, though often armor only means I live a few seconds longer... the 1K armor on my TIE/IN has saved me several times though.
