obvisouly didin't read the starwars tech manual or books the bwing is a fighter. it classified as a fighter bomber to replace the ywing as a ship with greater speed and manueverabilty than the ywing but not quite as good as an xwing and carry greater firepower than either also designed to engage in fighter combat if nessesaary. plain and simple the bwing is serioulsl y borked in jtl and not the way it should be.
Actually, your books dont mean squat. That is the OFFICIAL star wars website. It is THE right answer. Your books are just wrong. That website describes what Lucas wanted the ship to be and it is exactly that in JtL.
Ok, personally I like the Bwing SOMETIMES. When I help out a friend with a lot of fighter coverage I perfer to hop in the X or A wing but when I know there will be a transport I jump in the B. I load up with 2 mark II space bombs and I have 2 adv blasters,1 adv disruptor, and 1 adv ion with a nice lvl 2 cap with REALLY low mass and REALLY low energy drain. I can take on tier 5 decimators in deepspace solo with that baby. I just cruise up behind them nice and slow wait for target lock then aim for weapon 0 fire off 2 space bombs and unleash all 4 adv cannons and as they pound away weapon 0 it goes bye bye and I target weapon 1 and unleash 2 more spacebombs and the ship is weaponless. After that its cake. Oh, and those that say the Bwing is slower and less maneuverable then the Nova are wrong, it has the same handling stats as the Nova does.
