I think the DEVs should just let us pick the skills we want to use, like we can in the TC. I don't want to have to work/team for my skills!

(apparently I'm in a really good mood today)

THanks guys for the responses. Unfortunately, per the ship, until I get that first box in T3, I'm stuck in a Tie/In and very limited. I'd be happy with a big slow Tie Bomber, I did most of Freelance, didn't finish that because I switched to Imperial, with a slower bigger Kimo Fighter. But as to missions and points, currently you still have to get the points as well and do the missions. So you do still have to grind the points/experience out anyways. I'd say if everyone wants to stick to the missions, then break them up, instead of making them all a long series, wherein if you fail, start all over. I still got a long way to go, so it's a lot for one box.

But as to the whole MMORP... my concern here in peticular is that my difficulty is in getting through my own profession. I understand in making things in the game that take group effort, and the rewards for doing it, I'm all for it!!! Encourage us to play with others, and make content for group play, and think there is plenty, maybe space needs more, but my personal pilot professionshouldn't be a group necessity/function to make up for the lack of content then, I'm the only one that benefits from it anyway. Yeah you've gotcontent like the Corvette missions which are great group things, and DWB, really cool stuff, but I'm talking about doing a profession, all that other stuff/content comesafter I've mastered pilot, then comes in the group content. If it's my choice to play solo, I accept there are things I can't do, but one of those things shouldn't be to obtain a Master profession. And just my opinion. I'm no uber gamer, but would like the opportunity to get all that I can out of this game. And that's why there is stuff like the Corvette and DWB, for getting grouped and harder, more difficult content.

I love this game, even being limited to what I have been (on the ground) playing solo, because there is still so much I can do. It's a large galaxy that we all enter and get the opportunity to play as, and as who we want to play - RP. There are Bounty Hunters who play Solo, because they believe that Bounty Hunters are more of loners than big group characters. Like Lomier said they need the balance and content for both PvP/PvE and Group/Solo play. MMORP's are geared towards grouping, but does not in any way mean designed to be a group oriented game. It's a game where we can all come together and play and interact with one another, whether side by side, or just passing by. Thanks for all your opinions and thoughts!!!

I applaud your civil tone to getting stuck on missions, but lot of us also non-guilded, mostly solo players either scratched and clawed our way through it solo or found some wingmen we could call on and were more than glad to help for their own xp/prestige or just to have something to do with a purpose. (yes, there's a third group that just gave up, but they really shouldn't have.)

Make SURE you are using the appropriate overload programs from imp and freelance. They make a BIG difference.

Also make sure to always have your radar set at max 8k and you'll be able to simply avoid those non-mission npc's in many instances.

Hang in there and best of luck! Seems quite a few Bria pilots post, hopefully you can hook up with a couple/few.

I too enjoyed the challenge of the mission based advancement. It makes the Ace Pilot tag actually mean something. I think the ground system should have some quest based professions too after seeing it. Overall I did all but 3 of missions solo. Just make sure to upgrade your ship an try to make a friend or two. Because in the end once your an Ace Pilot all there is to do is fly around Deep Space blowing up stuff.

im also stuck on the same mission and have stopped trying ,its alright saying play it as a group but its bloody hard trying to find someone who wants to waste time doing a mission they,ve already done ,especially since it goes on and on and on ,and if u die just at the end as i did ,its like a kick in the jewels. the skills should be learnable wether the missions are completed or not ,i've capped out and sick of the sight of my crappy tie/in ,i just wish i could arm the soro up!

I'll comment with tips...

The Tie/In has 40k mass ... I'm a master pilot and my favorite ship is the Kihraxz ... also only 40k mass. The key to turning this light fighter from a gnat to a piece of kick ass hardware is REing and droid programs.

At your level, you should be able to kit up with the following:

RE'dLevel 5 Gun, max Damage 1789, 0.670 vs shields, 0.650 vs armour

RE'dLevel 5 shield, 1100 front back, 7.76 recharge

RE'dLevel 2 Reactor, 1.5k mass, 13k energy

RE'd Level 4 Engine, 767 speed

RE'd Level 4 Booster, 3.5k mass 13 seconds of boost at 25 speed

RE'd Level 2 Droid Interface

RE'd Level 2 Capacitor, 800 energy, 37 recharge

Mark 2 Proton Launcher, 3k mass

Basic Chaff Launcher, 1k mass

get a shipwright to make armour to fill the remaining mass

Load up your droid brain with:

Weapon Overload

Engine Overload

Weapon Capacitor Overload *

Capacitor to Shield Shunt *

Reactor Overload *

* - Ask a privateer, make sure you have the droid program chips

As soon as you launch, run the capacitor overload program, this can do more than double your energy reserve and recharge rate. Then run the weapon overload, this will make your gun even nastier. Make sure capacitor to shield dump is on your shortcut bar, I'd recommend F8 as it's at the end of a block of 4 function keys. When your shields a low, hit capacitor to shield dump and they'll leap back up.

Because it's light ... it's manoverable. make use of it.

If you're having trouble getting behind something, hit your 0% throttle button and then two seconds later hit your 100% throttle button or the match speed button. The idea is that the temporary loss of speed will give you that extra edge in turning.

When the interceptor is made available to you ... I'd think twice about it. it only has 1 gun slot like the TIE/In, but the interceptor has box formation guns which can make shooting those smaller ships annoying frustrating due to the lack of weapon convergeance. I'd stick with the TIE/In. Don't bother with the TIE Bomber ... its meant to be flown as part of a squadron with light fighters to defend it. It's not a viable solo flying option due to its poor manouvrability. In fact ... i'd make your first tier 3 box the ship components box as this will enable you to make your TIE/IN even meaner.

A40k mass ship can still be viable at later levels, believe it or not. My Kihraxz holds a 9.6k mass 2390 max damage gun, 1700 front/back shields with 10+ recharge weight roughly 9k mass. I use only 2k mass for armour giving 200 protection to front and back.

unrelated hint ... Devs ignore threads titled "PETITION"

I think that mission system is much more better than xp grind system. It was like campaign where you did make progress. Really great - all professions should have system like that.

I really like the mission based advancement but I wouldn't mind seeing the option for people to use xp to move on if enough time has passed. Mabye make the skill boxes cost 2x the xp cost to learn them by xp alone. Players would have the option of doing the mission and getting the box right away or if they've been trying for days on end and getting tons of xp but never completing the mission they coudl eventually move on and try the next mission.

I can say it was this mission that ended Storm Squadron for me. It really is very long, and darn difficult.

What I can offer is that Pilot can be soloed all the way through: but you have to quit Storm Squadron and join the RSF on Naboo. That's that, its dirt easy and you get the Krayt super-ship at the end, and a YT-1300. And, you can still go overt and do Imperial things with Imperial friends.

I'm soloing my Tier IV missions right now with little difficulty, its like the laid back piloting program. No nasty uniforms, or military regulations, or political uprisings. No vile gangsters making you do nasty things for cash. You just paint your ship yellow, and watch the back of the royals.

That's that

I disagree, the way it is nw, it stimulates social activity in-game, and builds the community.

I disagree with you. I think this game would be better if the whole system was quest based, like in Everquest.

For instance, not having a master-padawan relationship, does anybody here believe that killing millions of animals is the way George Lucas thought a padawan becomes a jedi knight? If based on a quest system, becoming a jedi would force you to do jedi-like activities. And the same for all other professions (I am no jedi and will never be).

In my humble opinion, this combination of "quest to be able to learn a new box" plus "general quests to just gain experience points" is perfect and should be expanded to the rest of the game. This game is absolutely boring when played alone, and only a part of it should be left to solo players. The rest of contents should only be accessible to grouped players, as grouping leads to friendship and a more enjoyable experience. It's the same concept as in real life: life is funnier out of solitude. :-)

I'm not trying to sound funny or anything, but you might as well get used to getting people to help you. If you think this mission is hard, wait until you try to solo the vette for your master mission.

Tempting, though I'd still like to stay with Black Epsilon...there are precious few points in the game where I actually feel like I'm a part of the Empire, and that's one of the few. I can wear my pilot frog suit, fight Rebels...

And let me know if you want to play wingman for me on those missions to get into Tier 3 at last, I know it'll be babystuff for you, but I need help...and if you ever want to fly on my multiplayer ship sometime, whatever it is (I forget), first I actually have to get to it I can ask the guild, but I'd love for it to be you.
