Thread: unplayable amounts of space lag

The lag and "twitchiness" of enemy ships makes it unplayable. I failed a mission because I could hit my targets fast enough. They are jumping all over the screen.

I would suggest reseting your bios to factory defualt then trying it. If that dosnt solve it nothing will. If it does solve it, you can keep changing things back one at a time untill you figure out what caused it. for me it was the CPU throttling.

sometimes i get the lag, sometimes i dont (usualy the former). all the people in my guild who fly have the same problem. all my friends on bria who fly have the problem. one thing that i have noticed is when i am getting it there are alot of little asteroid chunks flying around. in my mind i am POSITIVE that mining is causing the servers to overload, since they are tracking hundreds of these little rocks floating around. if you ask me they need to make it so that the rocks disapear a couple min after being broken off.

unfortuantly, the CU and ROTW broke the whole freaking game, and im sure fixing JTL is going to be on the back burner for quite some time until they sort out everything else.

Yes I and a buddy were victims of the same horrible lag last night in Corellia (Flurry server). I'veavoided Corellia lately because the lag has been noticible since RoTW hit, but was never as bas as last night. We were running the space missions for that guy on Kashyyk who opens the Rodian Hunting grounds for you. Ships were slipping, sliding and jerking around the same as others have said. My actual ping rate didn't seem so bad, so I'm guessing it's all server side nonsense.

I had been mining in most of the other systems earlier in the day and there wasn't any overly noticible lag. Kashyyk as laggy as well, though not nearly as bad as Corellia.

My vote as to a cause is exactly what has been posted: A big jump in the number of items and ships in space right now. Sadly it's showing weaknesses in the engine and servers that's probably always been there, just never uncovered since almost no one had reason to fly lol.

The bumble bee effect was the last straw for me after the CU. This game blows and I'm tired of how SOE consistantly ruins this game with each major publish.

I have never been so frustrated by this game. I want so much to continue flying around in my magic ship, and the enemies are jerking around the screen like .... things that couldn't exist because they jerk around so fast. Why even make the paths connected, at least if the ships were popping to different locations on the screen it wouldn't look so damn horrible.

Pwease can I play JTL?

Try doing the corvette mission in Kashyyyk space. It's like your a cat and the game has the enemy ships on a string. It feels content to jerk the stringleft and right while you pointlessly attempt to land a shot. It took me five ***bleep*** minutes to disable a Tier 5 fighter. The upside is that with the drunken movement the enemy fighters could barely touch the vette.

I reported the various lag issues to the devs a few days back, so I'm hoping they're looking at possible solutions. If I had to guess, my two chief suspects would be asteroids (fix: drastically reduce their lifespan) and the boxes around all the ships (fix: allow players to toggle this on and off). I don't have lag in many systems, but in the ones where it does hit, it's definitely verging on the unplayable.

ROFLMAO!

I got all the way to the end, the vette jumped out, mission successful, then I spent the next ten minutes just trying to finish off the last 2 A-wings from the waves. T5 A-wings outside of Kessel and DS are tough enough without hyper-jerky shielding! I'd pour a whole stream of bolts into it then think "huh? that missed?" only to see the A-wing warp a half inch over, more like "dance" a half inch over.

For the guy suggesting tinkering with your bios .... I realise your trying to help, but nothing in your bios is going to fix this, it's not client side. And it's not all the extra traffic in orbit, I was running just fine in space even after the expansion released .... the trouble started when I downloaded and installed it, then I got the same lag.

And IMO I think they all might have a connection, the space lag we all have experienced, also I've been getting the same ground warping, and problems with item data downloading when shopping at player run venders. Bazaar terminals seem fine, but player venders some simply will not load the item data for the examine windows, others load ok, other still have a short lag-spell. Something got botched in there handling uploads/updates maybee screwed up priorities, maybee they turned on "bits" or screwed up the way that works...I dunno, but it's getting old fast.

I can't believe more people aren't posting about this. Is it for select users only? Did the people in this thread all recently update their hardware on their machine? I know I did, and was wondering if its th result of that, or something else. I read the thread about the Spread Spectrum, and my BIOS doesn't have that option available. Any thoughts?

I have also been seeing the "bumble bee" syndrome in space since the launch of ROTW, and i have been playing JTL since its release. I tried changing the pixel/shader level from "Optimal" which i assume is 2.0, to 1.4 this morning. I didn't see the crazy lag i had been seeing.. but not sure if it was shader level change or the new patch. I'll do some more testing later.

after the server reboot last night, all the lag went away. if it starts back up in a couple days, after everyone has had a chance to fill the skies with busted asteroids fom mining, then we know what caused it.

Player vendors not displaying details is a CU bug. Items on vendors were not converted. Merchant needs to take them into his inventory and restock to get details showing again. Has nothing to do with lag. The bazaar has a 7-day stock limit, that's why that is working correctly again. Player vendors have a 30 day stock limit so about 3 weeks to go 'till all will display details again.

The lag is caused by hundreds or thousands asteroid chunks floating in the corners and overloading the servers.
