I'd like to see pilot controlled guns on those too, but, what do you think the chances are of getting SOE to go back and make a change like that?

LOL, I'll take what I can get here, and the best hopethat any of them may be getting the pilot guns is the YT-2400 at the time of release. Otherwise it'll take them at least 6 months to a year fo fix/change it (Y-8?).

In every description of the YT2400 its been described as having forward cockpit controlled guns, it being a light fighter for independent smugglers (Mass Loss compared to YT 1300), and able to be piloted by a skeleton crew of 1. Every single description is just that.

The Falcon or YT1300 on the other hand (in the movies) needed a crew. So SOE as far as the YT1300 is concerned from the movie aspect got it down right. Later on it was learned that Han modified his ship to control a turret from the cockpit. The falcon was famous for escaping and its speed, the YT 2400 Dash's ship the OUTRIDER describes it being able to shoot from the cockpit. Im sure if it dosent in SWG alot of people are going to be upset. But thus far SOE has been accurate with the Ships department.... With a little fixing here and there... from time to time....

A ship of smooth lines with a chrome finish, the Outrider shines with a dark gleam. It started life as a stock Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-2400. With the trademark saucer-shape of all the YT-series, the Outrider had an aft-mounted engine bank topped by vent plates. Its port side housed the escape pod and docking hatch. Its starboard side featured the ship's cylindrical cockpit held in place by twin bracing arms. The aft end of the cockpit cylinder housed the ship's main escape pod, which seats six.

The Outrider is customized to be operated by Dash and his droid Leebo, although it can hold up to four additional passengers. Its cargo capacity is rated at 75 metric tons. When fully stocked, the ship can go for two standard months before requiring restocking of consumables.

Dash has replaced the standard YT-2400 engines with three stolen KonGar KGDefender military-grade ion engines liberated from the advanced engineering department of the Corulag Academy. A modified SoroSuub Griffyn/Y2TG hyperdrive gives the Outrider Class 0.75 hyperdrive performance. The Outrider's hyperdrive backup provides a Class 10 performance. The vessel is equipped with a highly illegal and highly effective sensors countermeasure/stealth package.

The vessel is armed with dorsal and ventral-mounted Dymek heavy laser cannons hand-modified by Rendar. They are turret-mounted on standard Corellian 1D servo mounts, and can be fired from either gunnery wells or the cockpit. Built into the main command pod is a pair of forward firing concussion missile launchers armed with a magazine of three missiles each.

Without having watched it very recently, weren't Han and Chewbacca both in the cockpit after shooting the TIE Fighter that was escorting Darth Vader in his TIE Advanced? I may be mistaken...

Concussion Missiles were fired....

The Turrets where used when they escaped the Death Star... Luke and Han had to be sitting in the seats.

The missiles didn't even hit anything directly but the explosion blew one up, and sent the other tie swirling into vaders ship. Hence Vader breathing hard as he went flying uncontrollably into space.

11 days until launch and Dev communication has crawled to a standstill on this and many isues. I look forward to bugged quest after bugged quest again.

BTW, is this deed/schematic even tradeable? If not, you have to be a Mastershipwright to complete a quest involving 20-30 elite mobs..I'm glad there is crafter content in this game..they almost had me worried for a sec.

I support removing combat classes if keeping them in results in a "dumbed down" game

That's what I was afraid of...

In that case there is no reason for me to buy this expansion at all...

Thanks for the answer.

What i cant understand is why the hell cant we use these things solo.... why cant we have a foward gun?

Some people say it will unbalance PVP. Well from what i have seen and from experiance you cannot do the following:

A. Sheild Shunt cant be used in the cockpit

B. Cant run the programs on the Fly

C. Cant cant adjust shields according to situations

This is when your soloed in the ship. Of course you release the ships controls of the guns once a crew is on board but i just dont understand what the problem is? How will all these disadvantages unbalance PVP. In fact the POB ships with foward guns being soloed will be a HUGE target.

Once in multiplayer use the gun turrets can be used by those that are in the ship with you, and strictly the ship will more then likely be used for roleplay purposes only. I still would like an argument that this foward gun would unbalance PVP.

Im an experianced pilot and ANYONE that knows PVP in space just KNOWS even if you put a foward gun on these things, give it a better turning ability its still a HUGE target and cant keep up with those small fighters! There is just no way, that a small fighter can not be able to fly in, deliver missles and shots before you get this HUGE ship to target. And if your by yourself and useing a POB ship to PVP then your an idiot. Even withthe new components this ship will be a deathtrap if you PVP with a full crew and still have only one foward gun. Ever fly a Y 8?

Huge target

turning wont be as fast as a fighter

one foward gun vs several on a fighter

No adjusting sheilds

No sheild shunt

These are just the disadvantages to a Huge ship like the POB series ships.

I've Aced on several servers and keep at least on of each ace, I have all of the POBs now, and so far I can say (with the exception of the Y-8) there all the same ship just re-skinned. I don't need to pay $30 for a slightly different looking Falcon. I just wished they'd would have added something for people that are sick of Jedi wars (aka: the ground game), and play most of the time in space...

why would any of you toolboxes want pilot controlled guns on these big fat bulky ships, why don't you just fly a B-wing if u want a big sluggish ship with guns you can fire?

oh yea because they look cool...

why doesn't soe just make some master level ships that are really huge, you can walk around in, but only have pilot controlled weapon... oh i donno... like the FIRESPRAY would be a good one...

Well, for what it's worth, I'd really like to see pilot-controlled guns on the current POB ships. The ships hit box alone would be offset the over-powered concerns with regard to pvp and high-end pve.

POBs are many things, but they are NOT sluggish. The level of control on my Nova Courier is more on par with an X-Wing than it is with a B-Wing. Its slower, but infinitely more responsive.

Not to look cool, but to actually use it in everyday use.It has an interior, large cargo bay for loot drops, and for roleplay purposes, id like to actually USE the ship instead of leaving it collect dust.

I have the Firespray and wish I could actually have an interior but being that I dont id like to use the YT. I use the Firespray but cant leave the cockpit. Its a heavy fighter ship.

I use a smaller Vakasi ship for special missions like Corvetts. Firespray i use when I need to go on heavy missions that require lots of Firepower as the payload is incredible on this ship.

My YT..... To bus people around and get Xps from time to time. As a Master Pilot how fun is this?

I have begun to use this ship in Roleplay, but like I said, Its a ship that needs foward guns. The 2400 should have that option as its supposed to be alot smaller then the classical YT 1300.

Just to have foward guns, Id give up Mass for it so I can actually use the thing. Instead they gave us the YT1300 with the body of the 2400. This POB should bring something new to the table, esspecially if you have to go on a mission like NK for it.

Please...
