They will cost alot. If you want to be able to put anything in them.
I expect to charge 10-15 cpu for Chassis so a TIE/ld, Syck and Z-95 will cost 50k to 75k
You need to use high quality resources for ships and componets.
The higher quality you have for the chassis the more mass it can hold. VERY IMPORTANT!
High quality resources for componets will let you decress the mass they consume in the chassis, along with giving better damage, protection, energy ...ect
On my server the price of high quality resources runs 5 to 10 cpu.
So expect them to be VERY expensive the higher you go in the Tiers.
The higher you go the resources get more varied and NAMED classes come into play.

A few mill for a ship is an outrage as well as the amount of resources it takes.
Kinda funny alot of people seem to think this. Yet this economy is totally player run. Everyone seems to think that the economy is all jacked up when they are trying to buy things but as soon as they go to sell items they love the high prices they get for them. I don't complain much about prices because I have both a crafter and a combat character. If I don't want to pay the high prices for items I got loot my own components and harvest my own resources. If the Combat professions wouldn't charge so much for the looted components/resources(ie hides/meats)then the crafters wouldn't have to charge so much for the weapons/armor/foods/etc... Of course this works the other way as well. If crafters didn't charge so much for their end goods then they wouldn't be charged as much for the components. It's one of those catch22's, it works both ways. This is the natural progression of any real economy. Get used to it cause it isn't going to change much(not meant to be a harsh comment, just stating the facts).

The problem is it takes more thantwenty poeplemaybe moreto change the prices of somthing.
If one person sells swoops at a low 5000 poeple will buy them but it won't have much influence on any one elses prices.

Alright how priced the resources? how do ya? i mean then one guy get a ore and be like HA! 10k a pop! ..... or did you like just time it to see how long it took ya to get.. and then made a huge equation to figure the cost.. I really dont see it... This Game and UO.. UO rares and arts are like 1 mil, well what do they do with the money? nuttin it just sits there... Here there is alot more do to .. but I mean it is pricey? maybe they might crank up the resources in the server.... for that 15000 is not that much... It just to damn Expenive for us New players... and with all the... poor people.. asking other poor people for money ... it blah... I do understand that some play the game more than others and earned it... thats great.. but why so much for ore? just makes no sense to me... like i said.. someone just had to go.. 10k .. and it branched from there...

Yes Indeed. The sad thing is,that it's player ran and the economy is so out of hand.

ok good new for ya,
-1-the starter ships dont cost a thing.
-2-loot as many component as you can to add to another ship that a shipwright can make you
-3-what server are you on, I would love to hook you up with a dirt cheap starter chassis

In Beta, basic tier 1 Chassis cost a few thousand in steel, ore aluminum etc, +15000 in cash for a chassis.
Fully equipped I'd expect the tier 1 ships (Z-95, Scyk, TIE-Light) would cost between 50,000-100,000 credits.
But you do have a free ship that will fly and shoot, and get you through the Tier 1 missions, you will just need to buy a ship before going onto Tier 2 missions.
The upper level ships will cost as much as 5 million credits for rare things like the KSE Firespray, or 1-2 million for B-Wing Oppressers and such.
But I have no idea how the economy will pan out over time and balance prices
But expect Steel to become VERY expensive in a few days, if it hasn't already. As well as good copper and aluminum, and high quality Ore and Radioactive.
The demand for this will skyrocket, raising prices for all professions.

Airen was pretty close on the prices. though I doubt unless inflation or just crafters being @$$'s with thier prices or barring horrible inflation, that ships will be around the same as houses since thier very similar in material cost and type. The part that will get you is the superior quality ship components made by players. The chasis isn't going to be very exspensive (agian and really it's just the crooked crafters that would do this), you'll loot componets that can get you buy for a while but the best stuff comes from the player made things and they will be high dollar and extremely sought after. The best thing to do is make friends with a Ship Wright and keep him supplied with materials, you should end up paying next to nothing for the most basic needs. At any rate save your credits. That wookie life day orb is cool, but where are you going to spend your time. And this is the important issue. If your going to be on the ground more don't worry aobut the componets aside from what you loot and can get for a good bargin price. If your going to spend most of your time in space then save your money and hold off on thos six suits of composite armor. That's my advice to you. Again to sum it up 1) for just the chassis about the price of a house ( larger chassis Yt-1300 etc... maybe PA Hall price or slightly higher) KSE Firespray your going to pay some big bucks for (Arien hit this one on the nose). Componets will very in price. Deffinately hook up a shipwright with free resoruces and you will save money in the long run, trust me.
And remember:

It was a million for the master level ships, and my 50-100k price included full range of components.
Sure you can get a Tier 1 Chassis for 30k, but it ain't getting off the ground without a reactor and engine, and it aint shooting without a capacitor and weapons, and it ain't gonna survive very long without shields and armor.
Space ain't gonna be cheap
Expect as much as 100k for fully loaded ship, though prices will come down over time, and the more components you loot, the cheaper it will become.
the Rebel Y-Wing bomber fully loaded will be up to 200k, but you can get a chassis for 50k.
3-4 missions on Dantooine for 30k will pay for a ship, all you need is a Novice or higher elite profession, and buffs.

Funny thing here is that your ships chasis will decay when you die. I think a lot of people have it in their minds that ships will last forever when in truth they won't. 5-10 credits per unit is ridiculous if you ask me because even using the best materials the mass of a ship is still capped and no matter what materials you use you won't go over that cap by any amount that is really worthwhile in the end. I am sure though that their will be atleast one shipwright who charges a reasonable amount for their ships, and everyone else will either lower theirs or go out of business really fast.
