Thread: Group Mission aspect unfair to us

Dear All,
Having purchased JTL I wasn't to happy to discover that even if I had earned enough XP points I wasn't able to use them to level up as you have to complete missionsin orderto use your XP's to level up.
Also to complete these missions you have to be in a group with other pilots to help you. This aspect of the game I find very unfair and time consuming. If the missions were solo it wouldn't be so bad.
I cannot understand that the people who are responsible for designing JTL like this actually believe that this is what people would like in a game. Is this their idea of good gameplay, keep spamming or searching around for hours on end to form a group or find Ace pilots?
I dont mind the interaction aspect but not being able to level up unless you complete missions which can only be done in a group which you formed via hours of frustrating spamming or finding an Ace pilot isn't my idea of gameplay. Infact it makes me want to put the game in the cupboard !
What do you think? Let me know
I agree, PVP decay and forced/unfriendly grouping is the worst thing in JTL, i am sure it´s really fun to play grouped, but i know too, that there are a lot of people like me unable to play grouped, sometimes low population in server, or sort time for playing the game, maybe unusual play time...
If someone ask me about buying JTL, i answer...the game is great, engine is nice, yes it´s funny but...do you have a lot of time to play everyday?, do you want to be forced to play in a guild?, do you like to be forced to beg for help?, if not...unfortunately...forget about JTL.
Really i don´t understand Devs, and how they kill their game...it`s just curious.
For the people who love forcing others players to play grouped...sometimes it´s not a question of "i want or not play grouped"...sometimes YOUJUST CANT for a lot of reasons, do you want a desert space just for some guilds?, do you want every casual player look for other game really?...i don´t understand Dev´s...but i don´t understand you neither.

I just asked friends, worked fine.
If you don't have any friends in game after you have played for at least half a year you should maybe consider that you did something wrong :-).

But everyone is different.
I guess that aspect of it would be annoying.. but then thats why i joined a guild inorder so that i dont have to spend hours searching for assistance. Its not as if its hard to find a guild either, the majority of them are always open to new recruits.
And if im in space im always willing to assist people who look like theyve bitten off more than they can chew. Makes a nice change from hunting for loot.
But once you get a group combat gets fun. Doing escorts in formation. Flying as a wingman to the mission owner, to keep any fighters off him/her. Co-ordinationg strafing runs on gunboats. Its all good fun.
That depends onwhat type of combat you'rein and how often you do it. After you've done it a dozen times you won't think it's fun any more.

I agree. Initially I was against having to group to complete missions, but I've come to think that's it's one of the best designdecisions in a long time. I've made several new friends in the last few weeks. I've helped many people on their way to master, and many havehelped me in return.Completing tier 4 and master missions in a group wasgreat fun--much more fun than the solo grind to 4433, and more fun than I've had in this game in a very long time.
You have to realize that there are many pilots out there just like you, who could use help with their toughest missions and who are looking for wingmen. Personally, I've never had to do any spamming to find pilots to group with. Chatting with people by the starship terminals was enough. BTW, my guild has three active members
, so you don't need to be in a huge guild to find wingmen.

Nothing 'uber' about my TIE Advanced or my alt's Dunelizard and those are the ships I mostly use when helping others.
Unless you consider "all crafted items but the Tier 3 reward engine and a not-so-great but useful capacitor" as "uber", but then we probably define "uber" slightly different :-).

Grouping isn't what MMOs are all about; it's just one aspect of MMOs. I've played other MMOs and none of them require you to group in order to level/advance. You sure will level a lot faster if you group with other playersespecially higher level folks, but it can still be done solo, just takes longer. Currently, the advancement missions in JtL are not very group friendly. The only one mission that's actually group friendly is the final master corvette destroy mission where everyone can take the mission at the same time and get the credit for the kill.

i soloed storm squadron. if you cannot solo the pilot missions then perhaps you either need to bone up on your piloting skills (i.e. twitch) or get some friends. Friends are easier to buy than skills.

All I have seen is that it was made *easier* :/.
